Yes, this IS a historic election and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity
It is our last chance to change the Labour Party for good.
Joseph Muscat didn’t change the party – he brought back all the exiled and emarginated Mintoffians and repackaged them in new gloss. But the same old Mintoffians is what they still are.
One more electoral defeat – unlikely, but hope dies last – and they’ll be gone for good. Never will we have to look at them again.
Never will we have to face a general election with the hellish thought that Leo Brincat, Karmenu Il-Guy, Marie Louise Coleiro, Alex Sceberras Trigona, Joe Debono Grech, Edward Scicluna, Louis Grech, George Vella, Evarist Bartolo and all the other fossils Mintoffjani will be running the show.
Another five years in Opposition and they’ll be gone for good, from politics if not from life. Nothing else has worked. They haven’t got the message and they haven’t learned their lesson. They’ve stuck it out until the moment they can rise from the political grave like assorted ghouls and zombies.
Monday is going to be like the night of the Living Dead, Hallowe’en, the Mexican Day of the Dead, when they all rise up and totter into the Auberge de Castille.

I just read Marie Louise Coleiro Pace’s profile on the PL website. It says that she made secretary-general of the party at the age of 21.
Twenty one? No wonder the country was in such a mess and they were all enamored by Mintoff. They were barely out of puberty and still very impressionable.
Not to mention that her lack of life experience rendered her unable to understand how wrong her actions were.
No wonder so many PL candidates can’t fathom why people don’t trust them so much. They still can’t fully understand what they did wrong.
Secretary-general at 21. And they talk about it as though it’s a good thing. In America they only just trust a 21 year-old with alcohol.
21 is not too young to know the difference between right and wrong. And it’s more than old enough to know that there should be a distinction between a political party, a government, and a state broadcaster.
Please don’t excuse Marie Louise Coleiro’s behaviour, nor any of the others’. It’s appalling not because they didn’t know what they were doing. It’s appalling because they knew EXACTLY what they were doing, and their mentality hasn’t changed at all.
I agree. I wasn’t excusing it. But it does explain a lot.
What a hellish thought. I can just picture it. Just like a scene from Thriller….
It is the greatest tragedy of the political scenario in Malta that we do not have a real, viable alternative. Labour has spectacularly failed to purge itself of all those who were part of it in the ’80s. Had it done so, the thought of it running the country would not be so harrowing.
Vampires, zombies and werewolves moda bhalissa. Ha nkunu pajjiz In.
As well as needing a teleprompter he needs to learn how to stand correctly.
The Gozo mass meeting was great! Packed out to the limit. Let’s go for it!

One only hopes that the floaters are not going to vote them back in.
The strange thing is that because of the success of the PN people are afraid that voting for them yet again makes them brainwashed.
It doesn’t make them brainwashed, it makes them ethical.
It means they have a value system that rises above tit-for-tat tactics.
It means they have a value system that stands by democracy and how it is supposed to work.
People who are part of a tyrannical government are not supposed to be given a second chance. Sure they can go on and do other things, but the bottom line is that the people should keep them away from politics.
Name one country where the people have decided to give those types of politicians a second chance. There isn’t one.
Or if there is, it is a country that has failed itself.
You would think that after Muscat praised Mintoff during his first speech as party leader, brings back those cowards from the so called golden years, calls the 80s the best decade for Malta, brings Mintoff himself back to the party headquarters, then brings his daughter into the fold to boot, people would pull on the reins and yell out, “Not so fast”.
Hopefully, the floaters will understand that the voice inside them telling them to vote for the PN is not the voice of a brainwashed follower (the fact that they are still undecided should be proof of that from the start) but the voice of their value system that takes issue with allowing cowards another crack at the whip.
Who cares what people think of you? Do the right thing.
It is the people who shape democracy in a country by the value systems we use to govern our lives and influence our choices. Do we really need another election where we have to drum the obvious into other people’s heads?
Picture this:
Joseph sitting down at his new Castille office. His new stationery items have just arrived. He is sipping his coffee whilst surveying the room and deciding what needs to be changed to make it his home for the coming five years.
Ahhhh yes, he should get some tips from designer guru Me Shall. She will know what to do.
Colleagues knock on his door. They need decisions. They need advice. They need plans………As his friend told us, Joseph enjoys time on his own so, as he normally does to his friends and colleagues, he does not open the door.
And they wait and wait………and we wait and wait…..and Malta waits and waits……until this 38 year old inexperienced young politican decides to open the door and starts making important decisions that will change my life !
Come on people……get real.
When I fear that there is something terribly wrong with my health, I dont go to a basic GP, I go straight to a specialist because my life is on the line and I want a cure from the one with the most experience and learning……………
Do we value our country, our life and the life of our loved ones so little as to leave it in the hands of this guy? He has barely started living his own adult life, will I allow him to make decisions on my life ?
For all the doubters, the floaters, the undecided – look around you, read the international news, see what Europe is going through. Big countries who often ask “Malta who, where?” are struggling, brought down to their knees and JUST LOOK AT US! Not perfect by far, but under a good governance we are surviving this economic crisis.
For this alone I will vote PN. I see it, I get it, why can’t you? Why change a winning horse? Because ‘it is time for a change’ you say? Change to what? To a big question mark? Are you willing to jeopardise what is in reality the most important factor FOR ALL OF US, BE IT RED OR BE IT BLUE? Malta will then become ‘news’ to the rest of Europe by joining the economic band wagon.
For my children who go to school, get a stipend, do not have to worry about paying big student loans, can proudly say that their country is part of the EU AND benefit from it. I often talk to them about all this so that they do not become complacent because this is what has happened to a lot of people who are undecided.
For the love of our country, dig deep in your conscience and sift through what is being promised by PL and you will find a few grains of NOTHING.
hear, hear – you couldn’t haven’t put it any better.
LEST WE FORGET

You know, I have to say that is one of the best arguements I have read against voting for PL.
If they aren’t elected they will have to clean house and hopefully they’ll get rid of their Toni Abelas and Karmenu Vellas, and they’ll create the strong opposition party Malta needs.
