Is this a new Labour tactic? Leak something to see how it floats and if it drops dead come out and deny it all, and make those who broadcast the story look like liars?
It’s not a new tactic at all. The government knew what it intended to do but then again, so did Jason – never mind that the two ideas weren’t convergent, it’ll always be Jason’s way.
Proof of all this is the fact that Jason had announced his new deployment on Facebook and I cannot see him consulting this move with either Muscat or, much less, Herrera. It would have been more like: move over people, I want this.
Now we are usedd to these headlines: first Joseph Muscat and his chief of staff Keith Schembri fly a kite and if the idea is by and large ‘accepted’ by the public then they will continue with their plan, like with this Malta Today article.
If on the other hand after flying a kite on a Mintoff museum or not enough space for offices for ministers in the new parliament, they find that people think they’re being taken for a ride, then they create an escape route by “consulting the people”.
This kind of decision-making cannot work for ever. Wait and see until the SHTF.

Looks like this appointment had some resistance from the top, but without any success.
Maybe it’s time MaltaToday changed its government sources. It seems that the ones in the Junior Ministries may be more reliable than the ones in Castille.
