So, Mrs Vella, how did you spend the Eur20,000 your ‘FAA’ got from the Good Causes Fund under the Nationalist government?

Come on, Astrid, run for your megaphone and blare it out. We are DYING to know. Those placards must have been very expensive.

This is public money, and yours is a non-profit NGO that seems to do little more than make appearances on television and lead demonstrations against random buildings, so we have every right to know why you got it and how you used it.

Given that it won’t have been spent on taxis to and from Super One, some explanation is in order here, I think.

It’s more compelling news than the bullshit rant she put up on her fb wall about “the most appalling bad manners” she’s ever seen from a politician, naming George Pullicino “in Parliament of all places!” She must have missed the Jospeh Muscat’s despicable behaviour these last few days miskina.

    I especially like the comments like;
Jekk Dan Ifixkel Irid, INTAJTUH MINN HEMM !!!!!!!

The rest of the comments fare no better, irony is not a strong point with these people.

I have asked the question before but nobody ever answered. Let me repeat it here: Does Astrid Vella of FAA draw a salary or get paid in any way for what she does? I don’t mean FAA itself becase I know that they might have to pay for some things like the paper they use etc., but Astrid Vella herself.

Random “baroque” buildings or not ?

  6. ken il malti says:

Mrs. Vella comes from a long line of Maltese pixies.

  7. Sufa says:

Come on, Astrid. We are owed an explanation as to how this money was spent.

Er … international surveying at Bali?

  9. Tinu says:

That’s why PN lost so heavily in the last general elections. The Nationalist government kept feeding the sharks.

  10. philip says:

Come clean, Astrid. Your Labour government thinks that it can investigate Tonio Fenech’s “abuses”. Tell us of the funds you got from Tonio Fenech’s ‘abuses’. What did you do with the money?

  11. etil says:

Yes, Mrs. Vella – do tell.

  12. P Shaw says:

Did she use them to finance the regular FAA organized cultural (Baroque) trips to Sicily?

“A spokesman for Birdlife Malta pointed out that no individual at Birdlife ever received similar payments and it was unclear what these were for” I’m sure that goes for all environment NGOs who are regularly requested for consultation involving reports on proposed legislation and land planning regulations, but none of us has ever expected or received a cent!

  14. Pheidippides says:

Just how stupid does Astrid think we are? Just today she posted a comment on timesofmalta.com claiming that environmental NGOs didn’t receive a cent from the previous government. Qas tisthi!

  15. bob-a-job says:

In today’s Times under the heading

FKNK paid €17,500 in 2012 for ‘consultancy’

    Astrid Vella writes:-

“A spokesman for Birdlife Malta pointed out that no individual at Birdlife ever received similar payments and it was unclear what these were for”

‘I’m sure that goes for all environment NGOs who are regularly requested for consultation involving reports on proposed legislation and land planning regulations, but none of us has ever expected or received a cent!’

None of us has ever expected or received a cent says Astrid. Really?

Well Astrid you’ve just lost any credibility you may have enjoyed. You’re not squeaky clean – you’re just squeaky.

    • Jozef says:

      ‘…regularly requested for consultation..’

Really? Let’s have a list of private citizens and their ‘donations’ then shall we?

Cheques for ten grand to halt competitors and damn policy, obviously.

None of us eh? Since when are NGO’s under Astrid’s patronage?

And of course she wouldn’t, what did she ever propose except obstruct others? Others being real NGO’s with their projects, if you please.

Too bad she can’t commit to an idea and carry it through.

Marelli, how boring, anyone fancy a sloppy cappuccino below the Upper Barrakka?

“Mr. Busuttil, I’m delighted to let you know what has been done with the 20,000 pledged to FAA from the Good Causes Fund. It is to be used to pay for our expenses to create the Malta Cultural Heritage Website at http://www.culturalmalta.org Focussing on history, art, architecture and culture, his website has been set up in order to make our students, cultural tourists and all who love Malta aware of Malta’s unique heritage. As such it was endorsed by Dr. Mario de Marco, when Minister of Tourism, and the Ministry of Education. It is one of the only independent websites to be allowed on the Ministry of Education E-platform due to it its high standards. I invite you check it out to see for yourself.”

So much for “None of us has ever expected or received a cent”

    Squeak, squeak.

  18. Is “accountability” relevant to NGOs that receive public funds?

  19. ciccio says:

Maybe they just paid her Eur 20,000 for shutting up? Considering her annoying, squeaky voice, that would in itself qualify to be a good cause.
