The brainwashing goes on. But this time, there is no ‘madness of crowds’.
Here is the Labour Party’s latest promotional video, except that this time it is the government’s promotional video. It’s doing the rounds on Facebook and it is, for those with any degree of insight, a piece of frightening brainwashing.
You would think, watching this, that the Labour Party did all that, changed Malta to what it is today. And even while the rational part of your brain is hard at work telling you that it’s not possible because Labour wasn’t in government, so it must have been the Nationalists which did it, the irrational part of your mind soaks in the propaganda.
Now that the ‘madness of crowds’ – a term coined to describe the mass psychosis that can afflict whole societies, leading to irrational and damaging behaviour – has evaporated post March, let’s hope people have greater pride in themselves, and more self-respect, and begin rejecting such insults to their intelligence.

I am not sure whether I saw right this morning – could be I was still not fully aware. When zapping on TV – I saw on TVM what appeared to be a ‘montaggio’ picture – Pope Francis – the Vatican in the background – and Joseph Muscat. If so, are they also preparing mugs with their faces as a memento of JM visit. You must hand it to them they take top prize for brazenness (is that the correct word to use?) and the brainwashing goes on and on. Hopefully the list of gullible people is decreasing but I will not set my hopes too high at this stage.
Put it this way, those who follow the philosophy of “think positive” end up being victims of their own method.
For individuals, their self delusion makes reality harder to take once it slaps them in the face, causing more stress and anxiety. In fact, these people are more likely to commit suicide than are realistic people who roll with the punches and deal with life.
However in Malta what we are seeing is a first of its kind. Although the whole philosophy may have been used to support a bigger ideology, I don’t think it has ever been used AS the ideology.
What will eventually happen is, like in the individual instance, reality will strike, people will be unhappy, and then Labour will slap them upside the head with the same phrase those people have been using against the PN, ” You are just being negative”, or they will think that themselves and start feeling a bit scared because they think they are no longer part of the group as it were.
However, this will pass quite quickly, and then what we’ll see is Labour’s version of “Let them eat cake”. While the country looks at Labour with contempt, Labour will be posting happy, smiley propaganda on their Facebook pages and other sites. A nasty combination.
1:40 mins – Mark Grima, son of the Fat Controller.
In the video Mark Grima (son of Joe) says Labour will let business work.
Why doesn’t Mark Grima himself get involved for a change and allow businesses to work? Is he waiting for a government handout to save him?
Mela l-pass li jmiss ghal Malta Kollha Taghna hu li l Gvern jhallas id-dejn taghhom ukoll jew jirrangalhom biex ma jkollomx bzonn ihallsu l-banek?
And all this in 100-odd days! Allajbierek! Not going to bother disecting every second of this, but the best bit is at 1m38sec.
Take a look at this picture of Joseph Muscat’s “meeting” with Pope Francis – http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20130624/local/pm-to-hold-vatican-talks-today-changes-to-church-state-agreement-on-agenda.475139
A chat in a bar…
Am I correct? Is Joseph Muscat arguing with Pope Francis? Please tell me I am wrong.
We are all singing Taghna Lkoll to this video in our offices. Now we have the whole street is singing and dancing to this tune. The Pied Piper is in town.
It won’t be long now before Sigmund Mifsud is appointed to form Malta’s own version of the Red army choir. Concerts broadcast on TVM every Sunday of course.
And Joseph has done all of these emejzink things in 100 days, so just imagine the brave new world he has in store for us in 5 years’ time. My favourite bit is 2:25, where apparently the switcher artists are bursting with creativity.
Let’s take a closer look at the protagonisti.
Issahhah in-negozju – Chrysander wotsit from ZOO (great model for business)…
Id-drittijiet tal-annimali…have they not heard that birds are animals too? Or do they have a meritocratic scale of animals, where hunters are prized above the birds they shoot?
When they give me a proper beach where my dog can swim, between the months of June and September, then I will say that they are a step closer to the rights of animals.
Before that it’s all bla, bla, bla….like everything else these last 105 days.

Oh, right. Who paid for Michelle Muscat’s air tickets, taxis, accommodation and transport? I’m assuming the Muscats aren’t brazen enough to expect l-imgewhin to pay for their children’s share of this particular pie.
That honest frown is going to need some serious botox.
Is it my imagination or is the prime minister becoming bloated?
“Gvern qrib tieghi” in three months. FFS – we’re verging on the ridiculous.
They said this was going to be the most feminist government, but the imagery is uniformly sexist: mum at home (0.34) and the intellectually superior male instructs the female (1.38). Females are used as props (0.59; 1.16).
[Daphne – Why are you surprised? Women were used as props throughout the Labour campaign. They have a Berlusconi/Canale Cinque attitude to women.]
Gotbless how things have changed in 100 days, one would have thought we were on the brink of starvation.

Originality was never one of their strong points…
I love reading this blog but lately I find myself crying after reading a post such as this.
The tears come rolling out and I cannot stop them :(
We are in for 5 years of ‘marketing campaign massicc’ as Jowsef had proposed when the Libya crisis started. As he was quoted as saying recently “You ain’t seen nothing yet” …..
To me all the messages in the promo are “fine-tuning” issues . But the basis of transforming this country – new schools, university, stipends, Mater Dei hosptial, high tech industries, maritime centre, civil aviation, igaming, financial centre, stock exchange, new roads, water desalination, power station, new airport, trade liberalisation, closure of Malta Drydocks, Malta Shipbuilding (which in 1987 employed 8000 people), privatisations …. the list is endless.
PN could have had a field day in its electoral campaign. But it didn’t.
[Daphne – It wouldn’t have worked anyway. People had reached the state where they would have just said, ‘So what if you did all that? It’s time to move on.’ The PN would have sounded like one of those wives who say, ‘But I raised your children! I created this home! I stood by you and suffered while we built that business!’ and think this will stop the husband leaving with some worthless piece of trash. If it’s the worthless piece of trash he wants, then it’s the worthless piece of trash he wants. End of story. When people get to that stage, there’s just no telling them.]
All one has to do is look at each and every individual and you will immediately know why they voted Labour.
Each and everyone was promised something from more building permits (than already akkwistati taht il-PN), to promises of being able to wed the boyfriend who may or may not still be there.
Each voted for personal gain but each is going to be very surprised.
@Daphne…so true, well said. To me it seemed like mass hypnosis. Nothing seemed to work for PN and MLP could get away with anything and still appear ‘positive’.
They had nothing to compare with pre 9th March 2013.
The best would have been pre 9th May 1987.
Repeat, brainwash, repeat, brainwash.
This is worryingly reminding me of history.
disgusting! And the people who are in this video….. please! Mur gibhom dahhluna Huma fl-Ewropa x kienu jaghmlu!
How can I view this propaganda video?
My my, this government is certainly working at full speed.
In 100 days it achieved at least five years’ work and more. It’s even achieved the future (decreased electricity and water bills).
Incidentally, who released this video?
The end of the video states “L-Ufficcju tal-Prim Ministru”. Does this mean that my taxes are funding the Labour Party’s propaganda? This is shameful.
It looks like we are going to see a government that focuses on propaganda and brainwashing, no matter how unfair or untrue the claims are that they make.
As for Muscat, he’s not far from Mintoff, treating the country like his personal fiefdom, and working on the basis of ‘min mhux maghna, kontra taghna’…
What’s even more pathetic is that most of the problems mentioned in the video were created by MLP. Their rotten way of working when they were in government created all the wrong mentalities we have in Malta today.
Plus, who the hell wants a government that is going to act as a parent? If you have a problem, try sorting it out yourself first. No need to go running to daddy the PM.
That last bit was even more laughable. Why doesn’t the PM publish his email address on the net to receive all the complaints he’s asking for? That should make him back track on that one, once he sees the endless lines of people at his door.
Incidentally, all I got from this video was that there are many people who support the Labour Party who are now going to talk about wanting to work just because Labour are in government.
It’s like all they needed to get themselves off their backsides and be happy with life is seeing Labour in government. Nothing to do with the PN’s policies or the PL’s policies for that matter.
Also, it sounds to me that many people who vote Labour wouldn’t dream of telling a Nationalist government what their problems are because they don’t want to, lest they have to end up liking them.
They see it as handing information to the enemy. They save that information for the party they like best, and want to be able to thank and vote for.
Incredible video. A contractor or better still speculator who made his bucks under a PN government has the cheek to complain about MEPA injustices. What a farce.
Then you get Joe Grima’s son hoping that under Labour his business, which he built under successive PN governments is going to get a new lease of life. Hope on, Mark. It is only going to get worse for you.
The worst is, he’s not the only one. There are those out there who had been given (illogical, unethical, corrupt – say it as it is) reason to expect that if they and their extended family could be counted on for a Labour vote and vouched for it, then their dues with the VAT department will be ‘disappeared.’
PN must thread carefully as this Labour government’s prime aim is to win the next election and not to solve this country’s challenges. Labour has learned already, to its advantage, that keeping the economy on track and the country sound is no way to win an election.
Fascist strategies.
How do you people stand to watch all this rubbish?
I can’t watch it, I really can’t.
To say I am disgusted is an understatement.
But then again, do I expect any better from Labour? They were always frauds and will always remain.
My fear is that we are getting used to being disgusted with what Labour does.
I am getting into the habit of switching channels or not continuing to read. But it’s not right. We must make an effort and be vigilant.
The Labour Party spent a lot of money on PR campaigns and promotions. Imagine what they are going to do when they find millions of taxpayers’ money at their disposal.
For example, yesterday in the The Sunday Times of Malta there was a half-page government advert that said nothing more then ‘the government is working’ and also took credit for the work of the PN government by saying that it launched 3 schemes for alternative energy use and that it obtained the necessary permits for the interconnector.
Basically this video says three things.
1) What tremendous work the PN led government did but was not capable of advertising.
2) The present Government hasn’t got a clue where it’s going so it’s asking the riffraff to assist it.
3) It’s so much easier to criticize then to govern.
This is crazy, they have no idea on how to manage the country and are asking the people to give them some ideas.
She said “u stajt nizzewweg” … isn’t that what she said?
1:10-1:14 …
In other words, she has already contracted marriage.
This is the greatest insult to our intelligence.
Did you notice that the book is put back on the library shelf spine inwards?
Maybe they’re displayed for the cover picture rather that for reading.
How funny. Yes I noticed that and said to myself..not much of a schoolteacher or a reader himself surely.
Last Friday afternoon on One radioI heard Toni Abela boasting about how his party’s strategies have become so sophisticated that the PN can’t catch up. Actually he said li “In-Nazzjonalista ma jafux minn fejn se jibdew maghhom”. He doesn’t realise how arrogant that sounds from the position of government.
Oh, so first it was all about getting there and post March it has become all about staying there.
Of course the way to do this is by making sure no one complains about the public transport system, the out of stock medicines, the queues in hospital, the waiting lists etc.
Funny (sad really) how everything that was so aggressively maligned has remained the same, yet it has suddenly become OK. If nothing more it is a lesson in the power of manipulating public perception and muzzling key people.
So that was what the Super One outside broadcasting unit doing outside Castille last week.
Will someone please ask the PM whether this promo video was shot by Super One at OUR expense?
Whether a tender was issued? What were the Protagonisti promised in return for their appearance on the video?
And by the way that guy outside the ETC office hardly looks thrilled at being given a job under Labour.
And as for the girl working at Terranova, well it was not the Government who found her a job but a private enterprise.
