A cautionary tale for John Dalli (which Malta Today might wish to read too)

John Dalli’s fraudster client

Eloise Marie Corbin, operating in Cyprus under the alias of Nina Petros in the late 1990s (in Malta she operates as Mary Swan, and that is how John Dalli and his daughters know her) did pretty much the same thing to Bishop Chrysanthos of Limassol.

She embroiled him in her schemes, borrowed his name to lend those schemes credibility, and roped in an army of besotted Evangelical Christians to persuade investors to part with their money.

Bishop Chrysanthos travelled halfway round the world (in his case it was Thailand, not the Caribbean) and stored assets worth $170 million, at ‘Nina Petros’s’ request.

When the bishop was eventually interrogated, he confidently told journalists that he was innocent and he was sure that Nina Petros would put in an appearance to clarify matters.

But she never did.

Bishop Chrysanthos was interdicted and Nina Petros was never seen again.

Some years on, she found herself a European Commissioner, and though that has blown up in her face, he is now Malta’s Health Czar with a hot-line to the prime minister.

It would be quite ironic if this so-called charity work in Africa turns out to be one involved in people-trafficking to Europe.

The bishop of Limassol and Dun Gorg Dalli will be concelebrating another thanksgiving mass next Thursday at St Sebastian Parish church in Qormi.

The Te Deum will be sung by Mary Swann, of Swann Laundry.

If the lady in question entered Malta on a false passport, that should make her an illegal immigrant.

What are the police doing about this? And if this lady, according to one of your articles, skipped the USA and refueled somewhere else to avoid being “arrested”, could the American authorities call on the Maltese Courts for extradition?

Daphne, where exactly are Malta’s journalists? Are they taking a deep summer siesta? Their silence is unbelievable.

And, recent events seem to indicate, not just a hot-line to the prime minister, but also a handy length of string firmly tied to the prime minister’s balls.

How else could one explain Dalli having himself informed the media that his meeting with the PM regarding this matter was satisfactory, that the meeting with the PM was held at a time and day selected by Dalli, that Prime Minister Joseph Muscat allowed Dalli to pre-empt him in addressing the media, and that the prime minister is visibly afraid of meeting the media lest he be questioned on the matter.

Is it possible there is no extradition order for this fine lady after committing so many crimes in the name of charity against so many people/countries?
