Here we go again: the government has pushed the panic button when immigrant arrivals are the same or fewer now than they were in all summers gone by

I wrote a couple of weeks ago that the politicians in this government put me in mind of those women li igibu d-dinja f’tarf is-sur because they have three loads to put in the washing-machine (as distinct from washing them by hand) and the floor to clean too. And they also have to pick up it-tifla mid-duttrina. And how can they possibly cope?

Malta is full of such people. No wonder the politicians they elected are constantly in a flap about something, crying in public, or breaking down at the thought of their workload, which is just composed of handing out contracts and going to parties, as they had thought.

Yes, they’ve pushed the panic button, but not the one that means support at sea. They don’t like that one because it might actually save a few more people by bringing them here.

The new way of governing, I guess. Panic mode ready to engage 24/7.

    To appease his supporters.

Well, the immigrants issue is the only thing that was lauded by many and gave Joseph some of the popularity that he had lost.

Hence I cannot imagine that he would miss out on any opportunity to try his utmost to hold on to that ‘popularity’.

We all know by now that he doesn’t give a hoot where, or how, the popularity is coming from, as long as it’s there.

So I believe that panic button is going to be pushed frequently.

Let push as many buttons as he wishes (or deems fit – to prop up his popularity). Sooner or later people will realise who’s the one to panic.

This article’s last sentence reminds me of a spoilt child who always wants to have the last word while blaming others for one’s own actions. Pathetic.

Why is Simon Busuttil always one week late with the media soundbite? The current hot topic is the 500 Euro note and Manuel Mallia & The Sunshine Girls.
