Here we go again: this website is blocked on the free WiFi service at Mater Dei Hospital

The occasional clown at the state information technology agency, MITA, has seen fit over the years to block this website sporadically on free WiFi in public areas, pretending it got lumped in accidentally with pornography.
Now, of course, with MITA in the hands of a Labour government, the potential is rather enormous and the clowns don’t even have to pretend, because they’ve probably got the right backing.
Right now, I’m receiving reports that this website is blocked on the free wifi service at Mater Dei Hospital.
If you are experiencing similar difficulties in other public areas, please let me know either by posting a comment here or emailing me at [email protected]
Thank you.

Oh. It seems that truth really hurts.
“The Chinese campaign on Tibet has taken an interesting development. The Chinese are now adopting a media campaign to neutralise another media campaign. In blogs, chat-rooms, bulletin boards and by SMS, Chinese citizens are assaulting the international press, exposing mistakes and depicting what they perceive as foreign manipulation. One hopes that the matter will not lie to rest once the Olympic Games are over.”
Joseph Muscat, Times, Monday, 31s March 2008
The same thing happened at the free wifi area at the playground area in Marsascala last weekend.
Wasn’t Jose Herrera relaxing the laws on ‘controlled pornography”?
Your website was also blocked at the law courts 3 weeks ago.
More like all the time!
How else would we be different than China if we didnt restrict internet and free speech?
It’s been blocked for quite some time at Mater Dei.
Ominous rumble of an attempted return to the “Bongu Malta socjalista” and “Run, rabbit run” by an LP “movement” that is turning out to be no more democratic than the MLP of the days of Mintoff and KMB. It did not work then and it will succeed still less today with no LP state control of all broadcasting media.
Ma xi zmien dak! Deinitely echoes of it in the air…
“Il-free WiFi taghna lkoll.”
I am in Rome, and I get your website on free wi-fi.
Malta is being governed by a paranoid bunch of dilettantes.
First the foreign minister banned all mobile phones in his ministry, now your website is being blocked on FREE wi-fi.
So much so for freedom promised by a liberal, progressive party. The only people happy about this government are gays and lesbians and all the little Kascos that got a piece of the pie Muscat promised before the election.
Same thing at the Law Courts and for over three months.
There is still a problem with accessing via Go Mobile (which also allows porn). I’ve since ported to Vodafone and Melita (from home and TV services) cos they said they’re fed up of my complaints.
Strange. I use internet at home via Go as well and never encountered any problems in accessing this website.
It is also blocked on the free Gozo Channel wifi.
Gozo Channel has free wifi? Do you have access details? I never knew they offered wifi… is it recent?
Yes , blocked at the courts too.
Daphne,
As far as I know, these free wifi zones are contracted by the MCA. They are under the jurisdiction of the MCA.
As your provider we will raise this issue directly with the MCA immediately.

[Daphne – Thank you.]
Law courts too!
Yes, your website is blocked.
I confirm I was at Mater Dei yesterday , and this site was blocked – I thought it was due to some upgrading of the site.
This should now be fixed.
If this blog were really alienating moderate Nationalists and causing them to switch to josephmuscat.com, why does a PL government attempt to stop people reading it?
No access from Mater Dei. It’s been like that since March 2013
Suor Manuela Mallia hadet id-dekasteru ta’ Herrera. Mela sewwa, Herrera jippjana biex jaghmel KARNIVAL tlett darbiet fis-sena u s-Sister qeghdha taghmel KARNIVAL kuljum.
Looks like the Chinese started to rule.
Unbelievable
Google and Twitter are banned in China, Putin banned a few sites in Russia as well, while Iran is planning to set up its own internet off the www grid. Muscat has chosen his friends very wisely – no wonder he does not like any EU oversight.
It’s not just Wi-Fi from selected locations. I haven’t been able to access the site from Go’s 3G for about two months, and I don’t have any problems accessing any other site.
[Daphne – It should have been sorted. If it isn’t, please let me know again.]
still unable to access site
Also blocked at Malta Freeport.
Issa nghidu kelma lil John Dalli u jerggha jaghti access ghal dan il-blog. L-ebda sptar 5-star ma’ jwaqqaf il-media indipendenti.
Much worse is still to come. This is just a starter. The best of the Golden Years lies ahead.
