John Dalli’s heroic journey – “but that’s the way I operate”

A couple of interesting computations from the timesofmalta.com comments board:

Cyprus to Malta = 2hrs40.
Malta to LHR = 3hrs15.
LHR to Nassau = 8hrs30.
Nassau to Cyprus (direct) = 12hrs20
Total flying time = 26hrs 45 mins
Plus transfers, pre-flight times, hygiene breaks etc… And all to provide four hours of voluntary advice.

Assuming seats are available, just try replicating that same two day schedule at short notice and without chartering a private jet.

Agree totally with you except that LHR to Bahamas is more like 9hrs30mins.

And return trip seems to have been via LHR not direct, so add another four hours to that.

Must have been a very ‘private’ visit… more like panic stations I’d say.

    You desert an important meeting.

You attempt to snub a dinner invitation by a head of state.

You travel half way round the globe and back in just over 36 hours. This involves flying 21000 km at the very least.

All this to give free advice to a charitable trust.

I wonder whether the Marines have been told the story.

This is the same person whose priest-brother likened him to San Sebastian with lots of arrows being shot at him.

He flew from Cyprus to Malta to give the impression that he was spending the weekend in Malta, I imagine. There are direct flights from Cyprus to London.
