Konrad Mizzi has a house in London. But he doesn’t own so much as a flat in Malta.

Konrad Mizzi

ENERGY MINISTER KONRAD MIZZI

Property: house in London.

Shares: MIA shares 4,000

Money in banks: €341,713

Directorships or other posts: – partner Program Planning Professionals UK

Income in 2012: €54,260.

So, let’s see. Konrad Mizzi has somehow managed to buy a house in London, but he doesn’t tell us where in London, which is the really important bit. Is it in East Ham, or is it in, say, Chelsea?

Despite being in his mid-30s, he appears to have paid for it cash down because there is no sign of a loan declared there. And he even has €341,713 in the bank, despite holding down a fairly strictly-salaried job at Enemalta until relatively recently in career terms.

But the really interesting bit is that we know he bought a Sliema flat last month so that he could move out of Fgura, where he and his wife are incessantly bothered by constituents. The flat is at Avril Apartments, 46 Tigne Sea Front. Why is it not listed here? Was it bought through a company or in somebody else’s name?

Konrad Mizzi is still listed as a partner at Program Planning Professionals, where he’s Head of Energy Practice.

    He’s also Energy Minister here.

What exactly was his income from P-Cubed? This is not stated. He is a partner there.

Is the house in London rented out? What was the rental income?

  3. Gahan says:

He did not declare the Sliema flat because the declaration is based on 2012, (I believe) even though they got elected on the 9th March 2013.

[Daphne – That is just so ridiculous. We are concerned with the property they own now, not the property they owned before they became the government. Who cares about that, except for comparative purposes with the next declaration.]

    • toni says:

The declaration is for last year. It would be a bit hard to declare your income for this year as we are only half way through it.

[Daphne – Property owned is not income. Yes, the basis year for income should be the last, but it stands to reason that the basis for a property ownership declaration should be the day on which the declaration is made: ‘Property owned as at today, XXXX June 2013’.]

      • Gendus says:

Daphne, these quoted figures for 2012 are very important because it will serve as a baseline when calculating the fattening of their pockets during the Maltese bleak period of Malta taghhom lkoll.

Be it Tottenham, Harrow, Golders Green or Chelsea – a flat (let alone a house) anywhere in London is likely to cost more than a penthouse on Tower Road. So this needs some seeing into.

What one should ask is whether they are represented in any fiduciaries, which is a nice way to hide your identity in a company.
