Roderick Galdes: apparently, the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra now falls under the remit of Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights

The Department of Information disseminated this press notice (below) today, in which they tell us that Michelle, Roderick and Sigmund will “launch a press conference” when what they mean is “a press conference to launch”.

But in any case, why has the prime minister’s seriously pushy wife insinuated herself into this too? And why is the Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights holding a press conference to talk about the Malta Philharmonic?

I am perplexed.

  1. C Falzon says:

The clue is in the name: agri-culture.

  2. Antoine Vella says:

Michelle Muscat is not only addressing the press but, in the notice, takes precedence over the Parliamentary Secretary.

  3. Matthew S says:

Maybe the reason why Kenneth Zammit Tabona hasn’t found that permanent home for the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra he’s always whining about is because he’s been badgering the wrong minister.

  4. Harry Purdie says:

Of course he should be involved. Even CNBC business news ‘Squawk Box’, every day, utilizes a walrus orchestra to trumpet what’s going on.

  5. Lupin says:

Wicc tad-daqqiet ta’ harta. What a fake smile.

  6. Edward Clemmer says:

Let’s see, there must be at least three reasons for this political complex: MPO “under the stars,” and the universe also falls under the remit for the location of the event, at a garden as a specific piece of agricultural or agri-“cultural” (another complex) property, more specifically Girgenti Palace, under the “patronage” of the most important who, Prime Minister and Mrs. Muscat.

The same complex logic is applied for the multiplication of Government ministers and parliamentary secretaries: its called complexification and diffusion (or simply confusion).

  7. Mocca says:

Evita Peron with her animal rights sidekick.

  8. Freedom5 says:

Which reminds me: on 22 January, the prime minister turns 40.

Will the recently appointed National Festivities Committee be organising that particular bash too?

  9. RBugeja says:

Labour dumps protocol in its skip.

  10. etil says:

Hopefully the police will not be requested to act as waiters at the end of this august occasion. Isn’t the orchestra Jose Herrera’s remit? And what is Michelle Muscat doing there – a glorified desperate housewife?

  11. Rita Camilleri says:

Do you launch a press conference?
