You’re the one who fanned the flames in the first place, Mr Prime Minister
Malta Today reports:
While reiterating his call for the anti-immigration demonstration not to take place, Muscat called for caution and warned that racist sentiments should not be fanned.
Who fanned the racist sentiments in the first place? Muscat did. How else did he think his behaviour would be interpreted by the racists in our midst?
You can’t treat people like animals, plan to violate their human rights in defiance of an ECHR ruling last year, separate couples by sorting the men for deportation and leaving the women behind (as though they’re cattle) and then expect the racists not to feel their sentiments entirely vindicated.
He’s opened Pandora’s box and now he’s struggling to close it.

It’s Lord High Admiral of the Maltese Navy actually.
But what about Dalligate?
Has he managed to sway attention away from something which could bring him and others down?
the cheek!

HE WHO SOWS THE WIND REAPS THE WHIRLWIND.
Unfortunately for our country, your comment is so true – unless Muscat was/is so naive that he did not realise what was going to happen.
He’s not. He’s used tp fanning the flames of hatred. It was his modus operandi in opposition and the fact that he became the Prime Minister certainly didn’t change anything.
It’s not much past a hundred days, but Joseph Muscat has made it obvious he has no plan, no agenda.
He is making it up as he goes along. He is pushed around by misjudgement after misjudgement. Harold Macmillan, when he was asked what a Prime Minister fears most, is reputed to have said “events, dear boy, events”; but here the events are of this prime minister’s own making.
In trying to appear strong he is manifesting his weakness to all, because he is already turning on the weakest in society in order to save his skin, the sign of someone whose morals and politics are bankrupt but who is also struggling to stay afloat. Again and again he makes grandiloquent statements only to swallow his words the next day. He has horrified civilised Europe by his immaturity.
It must be humiliating to be him right now.
He might not realise it but many in his party will also be noting this desperation, and the whirlwind of internal strife which will push him around for the rest of his premiership is just beginning. It is very difficult to see how he can reclaim power and authority.
Sadly this loser is out of his depth in a grown up world. How bad is this going to get?
Very good comment. Answer to your question? ‘How bad is this going to get’? Very.
Met the boy over 15 years ago, we were vying for a consulting contract with the then MSE. A smug little shit who, when I asked him that I had a problem with how the CSO was calculating the GDP, he answered, ‘what’s a GDP?’
Ah, but he has a roadmap of a maze without neither an entry nor an exit.
Best pic ever. Says it all.
First Sea Lord of the Maltese navy.
Where were you Daphne in the 2002 Eritrean pushbacks?
[Daphne – Writing and protesting against their REPATRIATION. And those were not push-backs. The men had been here in Malta for some time, and when through the entire asylum application process. Their request for asylum was not met, and they were repatriated, not pushed back.]
From what I understand some did not even apply.
Most of them in fact actually refused to apply.
As far as I know the government technically and legally had the right to send them back. Still a disgraceful decision though when all is considered.
However I don’t think it is remotely comparable to what our present government intended to do.
The one way in which Tonio Borg’s decisicion ended up being worse is that nobody stopped him and they were actually deported whereas Joseph Muscat was prevented from doing so.
It would be nice to see a picture of Joseph Muscat with Norman Lowell’s stick.
Can someone post one?
What a sorry sorry sight he is!
Remember those “A day in the life of” videos during the electoral campaign?
Well, a bit of an update is now necessary. Joseph Muscat is no longer the leader of the Opposition. Now he is in power and a few things have changed (others remained the same).
So, typical day of Joseph Muscat as prime minister.
0600 Wakes up and smells the coffee.
0700 Watches cartoons with kids.
0830 Off to work. Time to “stand up and be counted.”
0900 Cabinet meeting: quality time with the clowns.
1100 Live interview on Euronews: Let’s show ‘em Europeans some of that British sense of humour.
1200 Lunch: selit and 2 oranges. Natural water (sparkling water has too much gas).
1300 Spinach gym: push-ups and upper body (necessary for those Mussolini-like gestures).
1400 Back to the office: Decision making time. Today: push-backs and the violation of human rights of African immigrants.
1700 Home sweet home.
2000 Girgenti: Soiree with the High Society.
2300 Checks the media reports, and Daphne’s blog.
2400 Off to sleep. Wait. The phone is ringing. Oh no, it’s Manuel Mallia again…
Replace Manuel Mallia with Franco Debono and you’re onto a winner.
Actually he goes to the gym at about 0900 when most people are at work. Meaning he saunters into the office at about 11am. No wonder the country is in such disarray in such a short time.
The commander in chief is too busy preening and watching his own jaw in the mirror rather than understanding what is needed for the country.
“To honour her brave people I award the George Cross to the Island Fortress of Malta to bear witness to a heroism and devotion that will long be famous in history.”
Are we still this nation? Would our ancestors be proud of who we have become today?
Our ancestors wouldn’t have contemplated independence. That’s how their pig-ignorance was kept in check. Pandora’s box was opened long ago, around 1964.
The slimy little stump has been back-pedaling since Wednesday, trying to cover his tracks that are there for all to see.
Screaming, “Mhux jien, Ma!” as he feigns innocence and points the finger elsewhere. Muscat makes me sick.
He is now leaving his supporters in a quandary.
He first said he was prepared for the pushbacks – although Daphne has now revealed that he had actually said he was in favour of push-backs before the elections.
Now, he is withdrawing, escaping actually, but in the process he has exposed his soldiers on the battle-field on the timesofmalta blog, facebook, and the internet. And now he leaves them there without any protection, to face the rest of the public which is disgusted with his actions and with those whom he called “racists” and a “minority.”
So much for a good Commander in Chief. Question to Dr. Emanuel Mallia, Chief of National Security: Is the navy still out at sea, or is it in Pearl Harbour?
Now that we have his word that the racists are in a minority, shall we sign a petition to call a referendum to deprive them of their human rights?
He’s discussing the subject in a Sunday Times interview. Let’s hope the interviewer didn’t just pander and fawn, but grilled the shameless arsehole (censor at will, Daphne) as is necessary.
Noted that the previously disgruntled Gino Cauchi has been getting up in Muscat’s face on the matter this week.
Am glad to say that the Commissioner for Children Helen D’Amato have spoken in favour of the Somali children. Just heard the news.
Considerabky late in taking a position
He looks like a younger version of Baron Bomburst from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (no offence to Gert Froebe!).
Sign of things to come.
I have long thought our Joseph looked like Mussolini when younger – see that chin and the slightly portly figure. Mussolini was good at threatening the weak particularly if they were black. Unfortunately for him he buggered up every campaign he started. I propose we nickname our PM as Mussolini Mark 2 whilst his colleague fits the tag of Gauleiter Mallia.
Bugger up he will. (has)
Now he has to worry about the upside down Mussolini thing, when he totally screws up (already unfolding), his ‘rabble’ may begin preparing the ropes.
Jekk kellna xi dubju jekk dan Joseph Muscat hux bhal Mintoff issa harget cara li huwa precizament bhalu jekk mhux ghar.
B’din id-decizjoni wera kemm hu bniedem rasu iebsa, jaghggel, bla qalb u li m’hu se jahsiba xejn biex imur kontra id-dittijiet umani.
B’din id-decizjoni dahhal lill-Malta f’hafna nkwiet bla bzonn u tefa’ dawl ikrah lejn pajjizna anke minn dawk il-pajjizi li dejjem urew rispett lejn Malta u dahhalna f’inkwiet kbir anke ma l-Ewropa li dejjem ghenitna u bis-sahha tal-Ewropa l-pajjiz imbidel mill-lejl ghan nhar.
Prova jaghmlha tal-Bully ezatt bhal ma kien jaghmel Mintoff sakemm gab il-pajjiz f’xifer l-irdum. B’din l-azzjoni se jgib inkwiet anke fost il-Maltin. Ezatt bhal ma kien jaghmel Mintoff u kif Mintoff ukoll kien jipprova jaghmilha tal-bully mal-Inglizi wara li tant ghenuna biex il-pajjiz mexa tant il-quddiem specjament fl-edukazzjoni. Mintoff baqa’ jwebbes rasu mal-Inglizi sakemm dawn iddecidew li jitilqu minn Malta. Izda Mintoff prova jbellaha lill-poplu Malti li kien keccihom ghax Mintoff ukoll kien giddieb mal-Maltin bhal m’hu qed jogdeb ukoll Joseph Muscat..
That really suits him.
I highly suspect that he secretly really enjoyed fanning the flame.
It gave him such pleasure.
The Nazis separated the men, women and children. Way to go Muscat.
Wish we could separate the uneducated from the rest of us; you would be pushed back to your hamelt and shut up immediately if the world worked that way.
But we’re civilized people so we have to live with you for the next five years after which I am sure you will be back to Burmarrad life.
I think the roadmap lost its GPS signal.
