The Labour Party’s lawyer, Pawlu Lia, has been contracted to provide ‘legal services’ to the Ministry of Finance

In the Government Gazette of 20 August, but no ‘SKANDLU KBIR’ headline in L-Orizzont (or, for that matter, in the PN press):

Pawlu Lia

PN, WAKE UP! (caps intended, as it seems that the heat has put everybody to sleep).

Can you imagine if all this was happening under a PN government? Probably the PL media would be going around in the roads with megaphones to make sure everybody gets to know.

The huge majority has really gone up to the PL’s head. They are actually thinking that they own Malta and therefore not answerable to anybody.

    • Min Jaf says:

As led, if one can call it that, by Slumber Busuttil, the PN has degenerated into to a Partit tan-Ninni.

Meanwhile Labour rides roughshod and unchallenged over everything and everyone.

In the space of just a few months, the Partit Laburista has reduced Malta from being a well-respected nation punching above its weight within the EU under the Gonzi administration, to a sad little backwater island viewed with derision on the international front.

It’s a renewal of contracts so was he already providing the services? And is Paul Mifsud, the Paul Mifsud who used to be Director of Information pre 1987?

  3. ciccio says:

One would hope that he is not involved in the Partit Laburista’s court case against the government about the VAT on car registration tax.

He was not involved in 2009, but has he been involved since?

If he is involved now, this would be a very serious matter.

Who is going to replace Anglu Farrugia?

      • ciccio says:

In theory, Labour does not need to win the case now that they have won the elections.

They majtezwell stop their case, while Edward Scicluna, the Professor of Mintoffianomics and Minister of Finance, pays the VAT back as promised by his boss before the elections.

What’s the point of dragging on with a court case in which the Labour Party is effectively suing the Labour government?

Hundreds (or was it thousands) of car owners were made to queue in Hamrun for the Super One cameras. Why should Labour make them wait any longer now that Labour is in the position to deliver on that promise out of Other People’s Money (OPM)?

  4. Michael Seychell says:

Pawlu Lia usually represents Labour Party officials and/or supporters who are plaintiffs or defendents in libel suits.

I can assure one and all that he is not a person one would like to meet or face when testifying in court, whether you are the accused, the victim or a witness.
