The mayor of Zurrieq wants everyone to look at his holiday snaps. Let’s give him a hand, shall we?

Published: August 14, 2013 at 10:12am

Ignatius Farrugia has been hard at work uploading his holiday snaps on his Facebook profile, which is open to the world. However, the world may not bother to visit the Zurrieq mayor’s Facebook profile, so let’s give him a bit more of the exposure he desperately wants, right here.

First photo fits perfectly – Caffe Ibla

  2. soss says:

    Ghala hu fidil daqshekk?

  3. Vanni says:

It seems that tugging at pubes, and close encounters with a#seholes, can be a very profitable business indeed.

  4. albona says:

Do my glasses need adjusting or did I see a whale lying on a bed in one of them?

  5. Mr Meritocracy says:

Add a ħ to the name of the Cafe’ in the first picture and you have a perfect description of our friend.

  6. navelfetish says:

    Thank you, Daphne.

Being a large-sinkhole-like-navel admirer from birth, I always longed for the opportunity to get a glimpse of Natius’s navel.

I have been zooming in on it for 30 minutes now, and IT speaks volumes. I can strike that off my bucket list at last.

  7. Not Sandy:P says:

Whoever told him that he looks fetching in a blue satin shirt should be jailed for cruelty.

  8. TinaB says:

Why is he posing with a cactus?

It would be hilarious if it weren’t so bloody sad.

  9. il-Ginger says:

Are the girls behind them in the last photo fruit flies?

  10. francesca says:

God, these are frightening photos. What’s with the blue shirt? Has he never travelled by plane before? What a fat, ugly, common sleaze-ball.

  11. Natalie says:

Poor memory value; most of these pictures could have been taken anywhere in the world. Who wants to remember the time when they stood by a bush and posed for a picture?

Or when they wrote their name on a windscreen (incidentally, I thought that was a child’s pastime)?

My thinking may be unconventional but I rarely take any photos when on holiday. I prefer to savour the experience than worry about taking good photos, let alone videos.

Who’s going to take the time to see them again anyway, and I certainly wouldn’t pester people to see my boring holiday pics.

  12. MojoMalti says:

Haw kreatif de wan wer he holdink de Chajnis cherch. Now I tri it wit Ta Pinu wen I gow to Gozo.

  13. Bubu says:

He should be careful with that pasta because he has obvious signs of insulin resistance. He’s a dead cinch for diabetes if he keeps loading on the carbs like there’s no tomorrow.

  14. Marlowe says:

I had a minor slip and mistakenly read the name of the establishment in the first picture as ‘Caffe Iblah’. I thought he really nailed it on the venue.

  15. Joanne says:

Why is he backing up JPO’s cyberbullying campaign when all he does on his Facebook wall is harass and bully you? Why does a man the size and shape of Natius feel he can call someone else ugly is beyond me.

    • Joanne says:

He has just put up a stolen picture of you on his Facebook wall. Unlike him you still do have an excellent figure.

[Daphne – Sharon Ellul Bonnici and her brother Andy Ellul took that picture at Baia. The trouble with allowing peasants into a civilised beach club environment is that they do not know how to behave, and that one of the unwritten codes of behaviour (unwritten because it is assumed that patrons grow up knowing these things) is not to harass others in the same space. I didn’t inform the owners of their harassment last Sunday, but next time, I shall most definitely do so. People with that mentality should stick to places frequented by their own kind.]

      • Joanne says:

Preferably locked away in their own house. Still, nothing to be ashamed about, Daphne.

[Daphne – I know. It’s their terrible inferiority complex speaking. Apart from the fact that the Elluls, especially when assembled together as they usually are, look like a family of rats in a famine. Total ‘racanc’ – it’s just unbelievable.]

      • H.P. Baxxter says:

A totally Italo-Maltese view of physical appearance.

So I wouldn’t expect them to understand what I’m about to say, viz. that you judge someone on their wares, on what they’re trying to sell, not on their looks.

It’s not some symmetric process: Defni tikkritika l-apparenza tal-Prim, mela nikkritikaw l-apparenza taghha.

That’s why we’ve got all Maltese men looking like total metrosexuals and all Maltese women looking like tarts.

The PM, and Natius, a huge number of Maltese celebrities and politicians, and many others, sell themselves as good-looking men (and women). So it is right that they should be judged on whether they live up to their sales spiel. For anyone else, it doesn’t make sense, and just shows the total idiocy of the Maltese mind.

        It’s about function, not appearance.

Anyway, I always thought that men should train for combat, not beach posing. Just look at Fedor Emelianenko, for god’s sake. Natius would probably lampoon him to kingdom come, totally missing the point.

    • TinaB says:

Because Natius, like his facebook friends, is stupid enough to think that cyberbullying means ‘silencing Daphne Caruana Galizia’ – they all swallow the little prick’s bait, hook, line and sinker, obviously because the mind of a chicken functions better than theirs.

Natius and his equally illiterate friends believe that they are an image of beauty because they are ignorant – ignorant people do not know the meaning of beauty because they cannot define it.

  16. Calculator says:

To say that he has no sense of personal decorum would be, at this point, almost pointless.

  17. dutchie says:

He’s really enhancing each picture: in the negative direction.

The picture you numbered “Natius 13” is a satin clothing curiosity. Natius’ shirt, that golden necktie awfully tied,
that green satin tie (and the dental gaps and the earring). They must be in showbizz. All three.

Another thing, and this is seen vastly on FB, why do people take a photo of themselves on their own (it’s different when it’s taken with a close friend) next to a well known landmark? What are they trying to prove and to whom?

  18. thehappyone says:

In the last photo, the one sitting next to Natius is Deo Grech, presenter/producer on Super One.

  19. Stephen says:

My favourite is 5th from top: big anchor with huge w*nker.

  20. Neil says:

Qisu qatt ma hareg mid-dar. And how very camp!

I can’t stand the general fixation of people insisting on appearing in every single holiday snap they take. Half the time it just spoils the view.

    • La Redoute says:

      Natius Farrugia IS the view.

    • TinaB says:

Neil. Natius and his ilk know nothing about culture and are definitely not interested in it either hence the posing with plants and trees – green looks way cooler than the colour of a landmark or a baroque building, you know, especially with Natius there, to compliment it.

  21. curious says:

A man from Zurrieq went to China. Amazing.

  22. P Sant says:

I particularly like the pose in the fourth photo.

  23. Theo says:

    Ferhan ghax cuc.

  24. tory says:

When one clicks on the photos to enlarge them, no picture is coming up. can you please remedy the situation? Thanks.

[Daphne – I’ve tested it in different browsers and haven’t had a problem. As a matter of interest, why do you want to enlarge them?]

  25. tory says:

Xi stupidagni ta’ nies. Imma jkollna nitqannew bihom.

  26. Spiru says:

I don’t know about Air Malta but 10 years and 40 kilos ago Ignatius Farrugia was a flight attendant with Emirates.

    Caffe Ibla – how appropriate.

  27. Volley says:

Imbasta he posted a photo of ‘Il-Patruna Santa Marija’ on his fb page….then he splashes all sorts of hate towards you Daphne!

  28. just me says:

Ah, but Natius has finally seen the light…

In the 7th photo where he is wearing an appropriate red t shirt, he is saying “Ma’ dal-gvern sejrin gas down gol-hajt”.

  29. Wayne Hewitt says:

I bet he’s one of those people who clap when a plane lands…

  30. mikiel says:

He seems to have had a ‘good life’ under Gonzi PN government during the past 10 years. Starting from a job as flight attendant with high paying Emirates, he travelled the world even as far as China, he setup his own business, he did not lack food as evidenced in his ever expanding midriff and also with his limited qualifications became Mayor of one of Malta’s picturesque villages. ‘X’jonqsu iktar dan?’

  31. P Shaw says:

Natius seems dying to grab or grope that soldier on duty.

  32. Matthias says:

    Xi dwejjaq ta’ pajjiz.

  33. Wormfood says:

This is one of the reasons why I try to avoid airlines packed with Maltese people.

  34. La Redoute says:

Many of those photos seem to have been inspired by porn sites. Won’t someone put him out of his misery and show him how ridiculous he looks?

  35. Petrina says:

Natius Farrugia appears to believe that mindless insults are a legitimate form of criticism, so I am sure he won’t mind when I say to him: MISKIN KEMM INT FIDIL, IDJOTA, U OHXON IMMENS.

  36. COD says:

    L-aqwa il-polo shirts tas-Slazenger, beda jmisshom il-but is-socjalisti u skoprew l-internet ghax kulhadd bihom ghax 3 euro minn sportsdirect.com

  37. Rumplestiltskin says:

Anyone who posts such pictures on FB for all the world to see, without realizing how pathetic this makes him look, has absolutely no business holding public office.

Anywhere else, the public mockery that this would engender would probably cause self-imposed exile. Here, one goes about in blissful ignorance. Sad, sad, sad.

  38. Pawlu ta' Janie says:

Bil-guh ir-ragel. Qas jisthi jghid fuq Gonzi u l-PN li jibqa l-unika moviment li gab lil Malta f’postha.

    Tassew bniedem tal-misthija ghall-PL.

  39. Sparky says:

What a big fat …. (well you know the rest). Can picture his mouth watering at the site of a ‘pastizz’.

  40. J Abela says:

    Qisu caflanga.
