I can report via eyewitness accounts that for the last few months, Silvio Scerri has been picked up at home by a chauffeur at 9.15am every day
Well, it figures, doesn’t it? Instead of saving money by getting rid of the chauffeur Manuel Mallia doesn’t need because he lives next door to the office, and having sidekick Silvio Scerri drive him instead to parties and play-dates, these two retain the chauffeur and have him chauffeur Silvio Scerri instead, in Scerri’s own car.
Majtezel use him ejj, la qieghed hemm jithallas ta’ xejn.
Then they tell us that they’re saving money by using Scerri’s personal BMW and disguising it cunningly with GM14 plates.
Yet my eyewitness who has seen the chauffeur collect Scerri every weekday morning at his home at around 9.15am tells me that this has been happening all along, GM plates or no GM plates.
The chauffeur drove the car with ZER 088 plates and carried on driving it with GM14 plates.

U GM14 ma jhallasx CVA hekk lanqas. Parking spot reserved ghalih, CVA fees free, driver, xi trid izjed?
ZER088 ikollu jhallas CVA u jfittex parking bhal haddiehor.
The saving on the CVA is in effect a daily allowance which may amount to the maximum daily CVA charge of Euro 6.52. Say Euro 130 per month for 20 working days. That’s about Euro 1,500 p.a. or Euro 7,800 during the 5 years.

On a completely unrelated note, some time ago, when it became apparent that Labour’s direction was to be to encourage youngsters to go into manufacturing, I had gone on a rant about the need to invest in cutting-edge technology and science in order to boost the economy.
Here is the famous astrophysicist Dr. Neil DeGrasse Tyson testifying before the US senate about the US’s need to increase funding and investment in innovation, science and technology. He is referring to NASA, but the arguments are completely valid and applicable to Malta and his views are completely congruent with mine.

Hear, hear.
Labour are, to a man, thick as pig shit.
If they can’t see, smell or touch something then it ain’t real.
Ideas scare them.
JPO says we’re already investing heavily in scientific research. I believe him. Because he is an intelligent, honest and upright man.
An excellent opportunity to cut costs as per the finance minister’s advice.
Sack the driver.
The driver in this picture looks nothing like Mallia’s chauffeur who is Joe l-Olandiz. So does Silvio has a chauffeur of his own? If this is the case then they really are saving money, are they not.
Someone with his responsibilities leaving home at 9.15am?
Only a jobsworth would travel in the rush hour.
Why is he picked up at 9.15am? Government offices open far earlier than that.
The pic looks nothing like his pad down Marsascala. Not being dropped off at home.
