Are the police now offering a special escort service through rush-hour traffic, for friends tal-qalba?
At 8.30 this morning, car no. DBX 497 was escorted by a police officer on a motorbike, lights flashing and with that ‘get out of my way’ sound they use instead of a full siren, through the rush-hour traffic log-jam where the Rabat road ends in the one-way split in Attard.
The car had no passengers, only the driver. It is registered to:
Mark Scerri
79, Elderly, Flt 3
Triq San Gwann l-Grammies,
Rabat
On 8 October, I had received this email and uploaded a post about it:
I was stuck in traffic this morning in Zebbug bypass, between the speed camera and St Dorothy’s (direction Zebbug) when two traffic policemen with sirens blaring urged drivers to make a path between the lanes.
Two cars with hazard lights on followed: a Peugeot saloon (JOE311) and a black SUV MDB*** (didn’t get the numbers). This might be a genuine case, but I was listening to TVAM and there was a link with a member of the police corp who said that there usually are 12 traffic policeman with the number rising to 20 during the day, so I doubt that in dire need you’d find two of them at the ready to escort you, and with another car in tow.
Prompted by the similar incident this morning, I checked to whom JOE 311 is registered and it is:
Joseph Vella
18, J’Adore
Triq l-Flora
Qormi

I think the street is “San Gwann l-Ghammied”
Scerri. Would he be related to the Minister’s chief of staff?
Could it be a Meals on Wheels service?
Nooo! It must have been the medicines being delivered to our doorstep!
No, they were probably delivering urgent medications to someone as promised before the elections.
Or maybe the free medicinals being delivered to somebody’s home? Maybe those cars belong to registered pharmacists?
They must have been delivering tablets to the elderly, door to door, as Muscat had promised. Or perhaps tablets to the students.
Chances are that the individuals concerned were the next most prominent figures on the billboards after all the names of the protagonists have been exhausted.
Perhaps he was in labour, and they were escorting him to the maternity hospital.
Labour Delivers.
GQZ 235 – the same happened in Marsa. A police motor bike escorting a Mercedes with just a driver (driving as if someone is about to bleed to death on the back seat) through the morning rush hour.
