Maybe she’s working from home…

The PN whip has asked in parliament for the office address which Mrs Konrad Mizzi will be using in Shanghai, in her role as Malta’s special envoy.

The Economy Minister (Cardona) said that he would reply another time. Despite being heavily armed with smartphones, he couldn’t make the call.

The prime minister was asked the same question, but he washed his hands of it, saying that he is not responsible for Malta Enterprise. But of course he is: he is the head of government and responsible for everything, even ultimately those matters delegated to his cabinet.

The PM has already pretended to us that he has “no idea” how Mrs Konrad Mizzi was recruited. He also said that he has never met Shiv Nair – a blatant lie, as he has met him several times and was even seen sharing a box with him and their wives at the Manoel Theatre a couple of years ago, during a concert which Nair had co-sponsored.

Now he has been constrained to release Nair’s letter of appointment despite saying that he has no contract with the government. It all depends how you define a contract. Most people – and the court of law – would define a letter of appointment as a contractual engagement.

The letter itself is ridiculous: “You will do this and that for 6,000 euros”. No time-frame, no terms of reference – typical Mario Vella: don’t bust a gut when there is so much to be said for sloth.

And they’re still pretending they don’t know Nair, and that due diligence didn’t turn up information of his permanent debarment by the World Bank.

No wonder Muscat fancies Tony Bliar.

I bet that the proverbial ink has still not dried out on that A4 sheet. It must have been done very very recently; that is after the prime minister said that as far as he knows the sum was approximately Eur6000.

So, if I want to do business in China, where do I go?

  3. Baldwick says:

What is this irresponsible, incompetent, PM on about? Times of Malta reports:

“There is huge room for synergy between both countries and although our closeness to north Africa may be politically sensitive I have witnessed a willingness in Israel to reach out to markets in the Arab world. This is where I believe the greatest area of synergy exists,” the Prime Minister said. Dr Muscat said there were some 400 companies based in Malta that had export markets in north Africa with 80 per cent of the trade done with Libya.”

Does Mr Muscat realise what the consequences of selling Israeli products to Libya are? Has he spoken to any straight-thinking businessperson who knows that market? Or is he surrounded by idiots who are willing to risk their business’s goodwill and God knows what personal consequence in the name of making a quick buck?

Also what will the Libyan prim minister think of Muscat’s suggestion of having us selling Isreali products to Libya?

I wonder who remembers Sergeant Schultz of Hogan’s Heroes… “I know nothing, I see nothing, I hear nothing”.

Chris Cardona definitely puts him to shame.

  5. Comment says:

Apparently Mrs Mizzi was not happy on our rock and the PM approved HER position and her super-excellent salary as a present to leave her husband on the rock to help the PM achieve what he promised.

  6. Tarzan says:

If the same people who employed Ms K. Mizzi cannot find her office address, I can’t imagine how Asian businessmen are supposed to be aware of her services.

This must be the worst example of Labour’s gift disguised as a job.

  7. Tarzan says:

Millionaire (or is it billionaire), Shiv Nair was employed for a measly 6k euro salary. This is so ridiculously low, that in itself raises suspicion that something is not right.

  8. anthony says:

Joey has no idea about Sai Mizzi, no idea about Malta Enterprise, knows nothing about Nair or the Gozo Channel debacle.

He knows nothing about anything apart from mugs of coffee and the smell they generate.

He must be too busy organizing fiestas for the princesas in the various reales sitios.

    Charranadas.

Joseph Muscat regards himself as a champion of the Palestinians when it suits him. Not a single word of disapproval with the Israeli Prime Minister on the Occupied Territories.

What do you expect when Joseph Muscat makes a phone call to Tony Blair? They lie to each other.

  11. David says:

Tony Blair was one of the most successful and longest serving Prime Ministers who moved UK Labour to the centre. Joseph Muscat has already been described as the new Blair.

About the concert co-sponsored by British Borneo Holdings – http://www.teatrumanoel.com.mt/?m=shows&id=113. It was also sponsored by a trust company representing Nair and others.

  13. Francisco Franco says:

She will be working in China, whereas he, as a Minister will be obviously working from Malta. What sort of marriage will that be?

For all intents and purposes, I dare to say that the taxpayer are funding their separation.

Brilliant op-ed in The Malta Independent today.

“Malta wants “a sustainable and final peace agreement” to be reached between Palestinian and Israeli negotiators, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat told his Palestinian counterpart this morning.”

See here, he WANTS. His will be done.

  15. ketchup says:

If the due diligence they do when they sell Maltese passports is as good as the due diligence they did on Shiv Nair, then we had better start worrying.

Or is she a puppeteer and the Ginger Doughboy is her puppet.

Enough of this “two ‘fer one” nonsense.
