Oh dear, I hope that half a million in cash didn’t belong to the Minister of Homeland Security

Times of Malta reports today that a man from Valletta was caught smuggling half a million euros in cash out of Malta last June, on a boat:

Darren Gouder, 34 of Valletta, has been accused in court of carrying more than half a million euro in banknotes on a launch which left Malta on June 27, 2013.

The launch, the Sea Storm, was intercepted and searched some eight miles off Malta.

Mr Gouder was accused of failing to declare that he was carrying €530,000 in cash.

The court was requested to, on conviction, fine Mr Gouder 25% of the sum over €10,000, in terms of the law, confiscate the cash which exceeded €10,000 and confiscate the launch.

The Minister for Homeland Security and the Police had better tell us what he did with the half a million in cash he declared round about that time, because otherwise – given all that’s been happening – some people might end up reaching the wrong conclusion.

Doesn’t Kurt Sansone think it is a serious matter for a Minister to have euro 500,000 in cash at home?

Had they been Manwel’s I’m sure the guy wouldn’t have been caught.
