From the comments-board of Der Spiegel

This is but one of literally hundreds of furious comments from citizens of other EU member states, across the comments-board of countless newspapers and sites.

Translation:

Could we have some more information here please! This stinks of a business model for corrupt Maltese politicians. This is purely a case of cynical ‘human trafficking’. What does the EU have to say about this issue? Can we not just send this island back out to sea?

And there will be many more comments on those lines…
Muscat may have made us a few new “friends” but he has lost us many valuable ones.

  2. Censu says:

All very predictable. With Labour in Government Malta once again hits the headlines and for the wrong reasons.

  3. Misthija says:

Well he did say that the previous administration had focused too much on Europe: he actually told us that he didn’t care much about what Europeans think.

Well next Monday George Vella will hear something about it at the Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels.

He’s going to want to talk about illegal migration, but I think this time, someone may just tell him to shut up.

    • ciccio says:

Isn’t the European Union now part of our domestic policy and no longer part of our foreign affairs policy?

Maybe Muscat should send Dr. Emmanuel Mallia to that Council in Brussels. Isn’t he the Minister of Home Affairs, besides of course being the Minister for the Sale of EU and Maltese Citizenship and Passports?

  4. Makjavel says:

Ye, we have been dubbed the island citizenship for heroin traffickers .

  5. Timon of Athens says:

    I cringe with embarrassment.

  6. Antoine Vella says:

The fact that the majority of Maltese vehemently oppose this scheme needs to be publicised on an international scale.

Perhaps the PN and AD should issue some sort of joint international press statement.

Joseph Muscat’s government is not acting in our name but against our wishes.

  7. Rumplestiltskin says:

Maybe this is all part of the evil plan to have the EU ‘push us back’ to sea. And then Joseph Muscat could brag that he was right about the EU in the first place.

I’m creeping under the bed covers, already.

On a recent visit to Italy many commented to us Maltese C’e tanto denaro e lavoro a Malta.Barely a month later we are in the situation when we have to resort to prostituting Malta instead of creating jobs .

One thing thats bugging me is, now that we have biometric passports, how can one be sure that the thumb print on the passport chip belongs to the secret citizen?
