Simon Busuttil could have said “And it took Joseph Muscat only 24 hours to destroy it”.
Daphne, sometimes I really wonder whether Joseph Muscat and his retinue realize the extent of the seriousness of the situation.
As you are no doubt aware, in the real world, it is perception which (most often) counts and that, consequently one must be very careful not to stoke unnecessary fires.
The perception which now seems to have formed worldwide is that Malta is desperately cash-strapped and is hence resorting to sell passports with no strings attached.
The PM has absolutely no idea what damage this perception is doing to our financial services (and possibly our maritime) industry. Stupidly the Labour government has failed to foresee the obvious consequences and has totally ignored the dictates of common sense i.e. that this “brilliant idea” would have the potential of feeding false or inaccurate perceptions which, in the financial services world, can be (and most often are) lethal.
Malta’s success in the financial services industry should never be taken for granted. Labour has shortsightedly played right into the hands of our competitors in Dublin and Luxembourg.
This was another brilliant speech by Simon Busuttil. The difference between him and Joseph Muscat is very evident.
The difference is believing what you say, makes exposing thoughts elegant, simple and natural.
This weekend the government forked out something to the tune of 250 000 euros to give everyone the chance to go to Gozo for free.
Bugger this citizenship scheme. By the time the PN get into power there will be no money because it will all have been spent on stupid stunts like this.
What total divs.
Wasn’t that the case of 1987. it took the PN ten years, two entire legislatures to start seeing a better economic situation and these idiots are destroying ALL our hardwork.
It’s not “something”. It’s reputation and credibility. These are not achieved by billboards and meritocracy as defined by PL measures but by “serjeta” u “fiducja” as shown by PN throughout the years.
Brilliant.
