SLATE: “Under a new law, the cash-strapped government of Malta will allow foreigners to buy citizenship for €650,000 ($865,000). Anyone over the age of 18 who can pass a criminal background check is eligible and you don’t need to live on the island or invest there.”

Curl up and die. Corto Farrugia is w-a-y out of his depth here. The trouble with those hicks from the Labour sticks is that they’re incapable of thinking beyond their narrow universe: Super One, TVM, It-Tajms, Malta Today, L-Indipentint u Defni.

INJORANTI. STUPIDI. IRRESPONSABBLI.

You have really f**ked Malta over in just eight months.

It is about time time that everyone wakes up on this sad day for Malta.

So sad that our so-called government puts a price on our citizenship and allows it to be sold to any Tom, Dick or Harry and to make it even worse sold by foreigners.

I am not one who writes or gets involved in politics but what our Prime Minister has done today has made me feel so angry that my citizenship which is mine by birthright is now going to be sold.

Is that what we are worth, is that what our ancestors spilled blood for, is that all the bullshit preached before the last election on being proud to be Maltese?

All this for what, to fulfill promises made to some people before the elections, all this for money.

Tonight I was working and some foreign clients asked me about this law as they heard about it at their hotel. They said that it was a shame that a government could sell our passports to anyone.

It is degrading and such a pity that such a beautiful country with such a rich history ends up selling its identity for money. A sad, sad day for Malta – shame on the government.

So now we know why Snow White and her Dwarf went on a course to manage press relations: ghax il-Pjan ta’ Joooseph ha jmur viral.

Please don’t show this press cutting to the police commissioner lest he launches another full-scale investigation into who snapped the photo of the non-Schengen arrivals area at MIA. He would probably also argue that this is a high security area, which it is not.

And by the way Daphne, don’t be so upset about us leading the news headlines the world over. Imagine how much Henley and Partners would have needed to spend on advertising to get that kind of exposure.

They’re even having the text of their advertorial translated into a multitude of languages for free.

I wouldn’t put it past Muscat and his forty thieves that this too was part of the plan.

Now, the communication “functionnaires” of the government of clowns will come out with a press conference under the transparent tent in front of the Palace to say that the international media is conducting a conspiracy.

Then, they will also add that the international media is controlled by the PN.

They will say that the foreign media has misunderstood the plans of the government, which relate to talent, investment and economic growth. The fact that the Maltese passport gives access to 28 countries of the EU is just co-incidental, and the euro 650,000 is a minor detail.

And then they will accuse those media as “geliss” and “negativ.” “Prehistoric,” actually.

At the end of the press conference, they will distribute complementary Maltese passports “without any strings attached” to journalists who come from outside the EU, who will also get a map of the 28 countries of the EU.

The journalists from the EU will be handed an invitation for a High Tea in Castille in the presence of Mrs. Michelle Muscat.
