The Police Minister counts the fruit at Scotts - but don't worry, he won't be getting to a billion

The Police Minister counts the fruit at Scotts – but don’t worry, he won’t be getting to a billion

The Police Minister exposed himself in parliament the other day as not knowing that a billion is a thousand million. He thinks it to be a hundred million (no wonder he wasn’t impressed at Gonzi’s final achievement before the election).

This is the top comment that came in beneath my post on the subject, sent by Paddling Duck:

Let’s help him out with the arithmetic using a metaphor he can understand.

1,000,000 (1 million) = 2 mattresses

1,000,000,000 (1 billion) = 2,000 mattresses

Maybe Manuel Mallia should check again the amount of cash he has at home. A recount may require a new declaration of assets: is it 500,000 or 5,000,000 or 50,000 he kept in cash?

    sorry, correction: 500,000 or 5,000,000,000 or 5.000.000, or 50,000?
