The worst headline of all – French edition of Euronews: ‘FOR SALE – MALTESE NATIONALITY AND EU CITIZENSHIP, NEVER USED, FOR 650,000 EUROS’

Can you imagine that? “Never used/jamais servies” – the mocking, ironic language of the small ads for garage sales. ‘A vendre’ is what you would see on a sign up outside an empty shop or house for sale.
And they’re quite clear on the fact that it’s EU citizenship that’s being flogged through Maltese nationality.

What it actually means in this context is: “previously useless” or even better ” never worth anything so far”.
Europe is really waking up now to smell the rich aroma of the unique Maltese coffee blend freshly brewed. For shame.
In the aftermath of all this does our opportunist yet evidently shortsighted Prime Minister honestly expect to be taken seriously by his European peers on the irregular immigration tantrum he has thrown?
Or on any other issue for that matter? But what the ‘hack’. He can always stamp his feet I suppose like the spoilt brat that he is. As for the rest of us, the curtain is up and the damage is done.
Wish I can crawl under a rock. I am so so embarrassed by all this. Look what they have done to our dear country, embarrassed us all on the global stage. How can any of us forgive and forget?
[Daphne – I think embarrassment is the least of it. It’s the financial and credibility fall-out we have to be looking at.]
