Antediluvian Maltese chauvinism update: George, Louis, Lawrence or A WOMAN (you know, any one will do)

Here’s Malta Today’s current poll question, leading the charge at shoring up the notion that all women are interchangeably faceless as representatives of our gender, while men are individuals chosen for their skills, gifts and talents.
Well, let’s be grateful for the smallest of mercies. At least they haven’t put in another option: ‘A gay’ for president. Because if women are seen as interchangeable, gay women are even more worse off. Not just a woman, but ‘a gay’.

And what if we want neither?
This is exactly the reason why I categorically disagree with quotas for women.
We all get bunched into one category immaterial of competencies.
Malta Today should retract that survey immediately, and include a woman’s name.
This poll reeks of kite-flying for the Labour Party.
well, it’s not just MaltaToday, sexism seems to be a national pastime:
“Frank Salt Real Estate
Malta and it’s islanders. It can rain and shine in the same hour.. We are the most generous Europeans, and among the happiest in the world! Our women, although the most educated on the island, take time off or stop working for a while to raise our children.”
The worst thing is that that ludicrous status seems to have been actually written by a woman. It’s almost like David Attenborough talking about cows.

“the most educated on the island” – as opposed to what?
At this point why not just add two more options:
– A homosexual for president
– A darkie for president
Such a Modern Liberal paper.
I like this. There could be a counter-campaign.
Then Toni Abela would be a shoe-in for president.
Can I be president please? I’m a woman, and apparently, any one will do.
I’d be able to enter a deal with some branded clothes shop and be paid for it next year when I hold the next fun run.
Should it depend on me, count my vote among the ‘Ayes’.
And, ironically, it was Malta Today that ran a story yesterday about how, under Labour, the number of women directors of public entities has actually fallen under Labour, and by a staggering 43%.
Dear Daphne, it is probable that Malta Today indicated just a woman, and any woman would do, it is because if Maria Camilleri is nominated for president, it would not be due to her ability, but because she is a woman.
Then they should have said “Maria Camilleri” which would have tipped the odds in favour of The Men.
Daphne for President.
That is absolutely shocking.
Wow, political correctness in this survey is amazing. Is Grace Borg a woman? I can just see her as the cherry on the cake with the new found definition of meritocracy.
Wouldn’t we be proud?
Lawrence Gonzi? There’s a precedent.
Louis Grech? And yawn yourself to death.
George Vella? Hello!
A woman from the lot?
Nuxellina. Why not.
