Joseph Muscat’s message to the nation on the death of Nelson Mandela

Published: December 10, 2013 at 11:40am

I’m uploading Prime Minister Muscat’s formal message to the nation on the death of Nelson Mandela (like the sort of people who voted for him actually give a damn – what he’s doing here is hitching a ride on something he thinks is liberal and progressive…and hip, because in the late 1980s it was cool to wear ‘Free Mandela’ T-shirts).

The video has had only 150 views since the Poison Dwarf of Castile Communications put it up on the prime minister’s channel on YouTube, which is a shame as I think it deserves as many views as it can get.

Pour yourself a cup of coffee and enjoy this with friends. My verdict? Truly shallow and repulsive, read off a teleprompter with minimal acting skills and no trace of real feeling or even belief in what he’s saying. The man just doesn’t fit the role people gave him. Zero gravitas.

Joseph Muscat is killing us softly anyway.

  2. Joey Tatu says:

WTF – each and every day that goes by the conviction that we have been lumped with a totally inept and incompetent prime minister grows even deeper.

His body language gives him away completely.

I have no doubt that the real reasons for his visit to South Africa are simply to be able to say he was there at the memorial for Mandela, to sell his passport scheme, to be seen with the world’s real political leaders and take a photo with them but definitely not out of any respect for Mandela.

Can’t be bothered watching it. It’s a precious 4 minutes and 41 seconds. But why oh WHY can’t they at least be subtle of copying?

  4. Dissident says:

Haha how fake, after all he did with pushbacks, he is the last person in a position to speak about Mandela.

This video is a waste of time, Mr Prime Minister, because the people you are targeting either don’t care or don’t know who Mandela is, and the rest are the people who want you out of Castile.

I do not want to be the 151st viewer, punto e basta!

It’s full of cliches inspired by Invictus.

Sorry I tried, I really really tried, but couldn’t stomach watching it till the end.

As Joseph Muscat himself learned to do at school, compare and contrast and discuss the above video and the following:

Is John Dalli going to South Africa too?

Mary Swann / Lady Bird / Emma Corbin / Myrna Klein / Nina Petros / Maling Wan Suzara has connections in South Africa. She hid out there for a while when things got too hot elsewhere.

His mouth is like an elastic band. I can’t watch it.

    This video is truly nauseating.

  13. E.P says:

Tal-misthija! Is this the person those 36k wanted to represent them, Shame! No emotion, nothing. The man is incapable of emotions. He can only try to simulate them, and because he’s not a good actor, he can’t get away with it.

  14. billy goat says:

I honestly tried to watch it but by the first “biddluwwa”, I just turned it off. The man is a lost cause.

  15. anthony says:

I have just followed Obama’s oration and see no reason whatsoever in wasting almost five minutes on Joey.

I very much doubt he has anything to add to what the US president had to say except that he is intent on pushing back all those who share Obama’s and Mandela’s complexion.

  16. Mandy says:

He doesn’t say it with passion, nor with conviction. Then again, that’s probably how he gets through most things, anyway.

My PC is refusing to play the video.

  18. H.P. Baxxter says:

Very topical in more ways than one. Jacob Zuma was booed during his speech this morning. Obama received a standing ovation.

Some of us look down our noses at black Africans but they’ve shown themselves far more discerning and – more importantly – far more liberal and free than we Maltese will ever be.

Sorry, I’ve just had a late lunch. No can do.

    What a bloody hypocrite.

  21. stumbledacross says:

Slightly off course, but just stumbled across an old interview with Joseph Muscat which you might find interesting, particularly the following:

“Would I consider going out for general elections? Definitely not. You see, I have another theory that to stand for the general elections you must be either a robber, a missionary or just plain crazy. I don’t think I’m any of these.”

There has obviously been a development since then. Which of the three options he gave us do you think it is: 1) a robber, 2) a missionary or 3) plain crazy?

I’ve just wasted over four minutes of my life listening to this and I can’t get them back. Oh, and by the way, Joey, get thee to the gym.

  23. orapronobis says:

While I was watching the video I got the feeling that Joseph Muscat was posing himself to be the Maltese Mandela. Did he not give back the Malta to ‘the people’? And when he said that Mr Mandela could have sparked a civil war if he wished, there’s a relish on his face that says ‘Look, I can do that too, if only I wanted’.
