Russia l-ewwel u qabel kollox

A rather good observation posted by Pablo after listening to Cyrus Engerer bang on about how disloyal Roberta Metsola and David Casa are in failing to make a show of supporting something they don’t agree with:

So according to Cyrus Engerer, Russians who are gay should not oppose Putin’s homophobic laws outside Russian territory so as to be loyal to their country in the eyes of the world and not have Putin and his aides call them traitors.

So according to Joseph Muscat and Desmond Zammit Marmarà, South Africans shouldn’t have opposed apartheid, because right or wrong, South Africa is their country.

When you want an expert opinion about loyalty, ask Cyrus Engerer. This country is devoid of a sense of irony.

Ghadu jahsibha l-istess Cyrus Engerer li l-prim ministru ghandu l-obligu morali li jmur skond ir-rieda tal-maggoranza ?

I’m surprised no one has asked these people what they mean by telling foreigners only nice things about Malta.

They say that it’s OK to disagree when it’s amongst ourselves but not when foreigners are listening.

How, exactly, do they propose we do this? It’s a bit difficult to follow such rules this day and age, or any age for that matter.

Basically, in order to do exactly that, we cannot write on blogs, Facebook or Twitter anything about our opinions. The government is allowed to do what it likes and we all have to support it blindly.

Yes, Mintoff became a god and the Labour Party its religion and we all have to follow what it says. What a load of jingoism from our “liberal” party.

The worst part is that many of us knew this would happen, but we were told that we were brainwashed. Well, as I’ve said before, we aren’t brainwashed. We are right.

What they really want is to make you believe that you are only free to speak in private. They rule through fear while speaking about a new beginning and togetherness, and doing the opposite.

Public debate has within just 10 months become a reactionary activity of no legitimate use in a country where, to quote a North Korean hostess, “all of our people are happy”.

And those who speak ‘against Malta’ in international forums or the European Parliament in which they sit are traitors and enemies of the state.

[Daphne – The Labour Party and the government get away with this behavior because so many people in Malta, even those with a supposed education, are ignorant of history, have no general knowledge, and those terms and their implications have absolutely no resonance for them.]

Nonetheless, some semblance of an opposition is necessary but only as long as this opposition, whatever from it takes and wherever it comes from, is systematically depicted as the enemy of the people.

  6. Bubu says:

    Spot on, Daphne.

They are appealing to the omerta’ we inherited from Sicilian gangster culture.

  7. Pippa says:

    Can’t agree with you more.

With pro Labour people you can and should criticise all that a PN government does, however mild it might be, but do not even whisper about anything very bad that a PL government does.

    That’s their ideal democratic state.

  8. Tracy says:

Nixtieq naf, nies bhal Cyrus Engerer xi principji ghadhom. Sa ftit tas-snin ilu kien ihaddan principji demokratici, u issa ghax gralu li gralu mal-PN, mar ghall-principji opposti.

Jekk bniedem m’ghandux principji, ma nafx fejn jista’ jasal.

  9. ciccio says:

I have personally never considered Cyrus Engerer to be a bright spark. His submission to Labour’s way of doing politics did not improve my opinion about him.

Ok, he can drum the same issue in a parrot-like manner, but once challenged his arguments collapse immediately. He is always visibly tense on TV.

  10. bob-a-job says:

One should not forget that Cyrus Engerer did not just leave the PN because he saw better opportunities in joining the MLP. That would only make him an opportunist.

But Engerer is more than that: he is also a scheming backstabber.

He called on Gonzi to resign before he left the PN.

He undermined Gonzi as much as he could so as to ensure a higher position within the MLP.

Engerer is walking a very fine line. He has many skeletons in the cupboard waiting to come out.

And you can only play the poor oppressed liberal homosexual card for so long before people realise you are actually a basket case with no ideals except deluded visions of grandeur.

      • bob-a-job says:

Cyrus Engerer will be playing the oppressed homosexual card again come the elections to the European Parliament.

He has been using the LGBT and the Malta Gay Rights Movements for his own purposes for years.

Being deceitful is not tied to any particular sexual orientation but only to a person’s character, and his character has been exposed as rancid.

Despite the fact that circumstantial evidence presented in court did not prove with mathematical precision that it was Cyrus Engerer who had created the e-mail account through which pornographic material was sent, his former boyfriend chose to forgive him and dropped the charges against him.

Having been acquitted for lack of proof does not prove innocence, being forgiven for the deed is further proof that the heinous act had indeed been carried out.

Inkomplu l-analogija ftit iehor. Fir-Russja, kull min jipprotesta fuq dik il-ligi huwa gay, jew jirriskja jigi ittimbrat bhala gay. Allura ahjar ma tiftahx halqek.

F’ Malta l-istess. Kull min jiftah halqu kontra l-gvern, huwa nazzjonalist traditur. Jirriskja illi ma jkunx aktar parti min dik it-taghna f’ ‘Malta taghna ilkoll’ . Jirriskja jaqla transfer. Hemm min addirittura offrewlu li jidhol fil-grupp ‘taghna’ basta jghalaq halqu. U ballec ghalqu halqu.

Aqraw ftit l-editorjal ta’ l-orizzont ta’ ilbierah , http://www.orizzont.com.mt/oldarticles/article115490.html, biex taraw kif jifhmuha huma fuq dan is-suggett.

    Allura evviva l-imperatur.

  12. madness says:

Using the Labour argument, why don’t we expel all ambassadors and high commissioners so that they can’t report to their countries on what is happening in Malta?

  13. anthony says:

Pablo’s observation is a very clever one indeed.

What amazes me is that he even bothers to listen to what Engerer has to say.

Mela ha nitkellmu fuq din il-politika ‘l-gdida’ tal-Labour.

Jekk ma taqbilx maghna nghajjruk xewwiex KIF GHAMILNA FIS-SNIN 60, 70, 80 ISSA, ILLUM.

Jekk ma tghidx kif nghidu ahna int traditur kif kienu jghidu fis-snin 60,70, 80 u ISSA, ILLUM.

Jekk ma taqbilx maghna naghtuk transfer kif kienu jaghmlu fis-snin 60, 70, 80 u ISSA, ILLUM.

L-innu tal-Labour ta’ dak iz-zmien kien MA TAGHMLU XEJN MAL-PERIT MINTOFF. Innu tal-bullies. Innu tal-intimidazzjoni.

Ghandi fiducja li Daphne ghandha librerija akbar minn tieghi mimlija b`dawn il-massmi totalitarji u li perswaz li ser nibqghu naraw lil Lejber iwettaq dak li ma wettaqx fis snin 60, 70, 80.

Tista tibqa sejjer hekk sakemm tinduna li din politika mhux talli mihiex gdida, imma hi skaduta u mmuffata, totalitarja kommunista pessma, tat-tip li kien iddeskriva Solzhenitsyn.

GHAL DAN QED ITAWWAL GHONQU ENGERER JEW GHAL XI INTERESSI PERSONALI TIEGHU U HADD HLIEFU?

    • ciccio says:

Engerer qed itawwal ghonqu biex imur lejn Brussell. Hemmhekk ma jkollux ghalfejn ihabbat wiccu ta’ kuljum mal-hnizrijiet tal-Muscatoffjani.
