Leyla Aliyeva, corrupt daughter of the corrupt president of Azerbaijan, feted at Girgenti Palace by Mrs Muscat, the Maltese prime minister’s wife.

People are setting fire to themselves outside government buildings in Baku, the capital city of Azerbaijan, in protest against the corruption of President Aliyev and his kleptocracy.

While this happens, the Maltese head of state, President Abela, and the Maltese prime minister’s wife, Mrs Muscat, host, fete and celebrate President Aliyev’s daughter in Malta’s state palaces.

President Abela and Mrs Muscat did so in total indifference to her corruption, her father’s corruption, and the people burning themselves in protest in Azerbaijan’s capital.

They were also completely oblivious to the fact that, in an act of corruption and abuse which illustrates just what Azerbaijanis have to put up with and are refusing to tolerate any longer, Leyla Aliyeva flew to Malta direct from Azerbaijan in a state-owned jet with state-paid staff and fuel, despite the fact that Azerbaijan does not have a royal family and her father is supposedly an elected head of state, which means that his adult daughter has no right to treat state-owned jets as her personal, private transport.

I can’t believe people want Dr Abela to remain the President for another 5 years.

Yes, he has charisma, but this behaviour is unacceptable. He should know better than to welcome such a person with open arms.

The work the PN did for the last 25 years (minus the 2years labour were in government), went down the drain in less than 1 year.

  2. Clueless says:

Leyla Aliyeva’s use of a state-owned jet doesn’t trouble as much as Michelle Muscat’s use of state-owned public buildings. I am paying for the latter through my taxes.

  3. Angus Black says:

You have to excuse the two. Obviously they were unaware of the goings on in Azerbaijan, just as George Vella was totally unaware of the riots in Kiev.

  4. Alexander Ball says:

It seems both countries have an ineffective Opposition in common.

Malta’s current foreign policy contacts seem to drawn directly from the address book of Shiv ‘The Spiv’…

I get more and more confused about President Abela’s conduct.

Does he know when and how to take a stand on a matter of principle or morality?

I have lost a good part of the admiration I initially had for him. I thought he would have done better in such circumstances.
