So far, the use of Girgenti Palace has been just so…inappropriate. Keynote occasions include:

1. (I quote the invitation) “a fashion event for the high society”;

2. dinner for delegates of a European Broadcasting Union conference, hosted by the Police and Broadcasting Minister and with the police as cooks and waiters;

3. a Spanish princesses themed birthday party for the Muscat twins;

4. a banquet to honour the DAUGHTER of the Azerbaijani despot.

We can be sure there’s loads more we don’t know about.

    Journalists should pitch a tent near the entrance of Girgenti Palace, and fill whole editions of their papers.

    The government should promote the Girgenti Palace as “The ideal setting for your Leyla Maltija.”

    Michelle Muscat has been identified as Malta’s first lady.

    So that’s why Mrs Abela went AWOL at Leyla’s exhibition.

    La serata si è conclusa con una cena privata, organizzata da parte della First Lady di Malta, la consorte del Primo Ministro, Sig.ra Michelle Muscat, per Leyla Aliyeva

    What on Earth is Mrs Muscat’s obsession with high society.

    She isn’t high society. No one who is part of high society would even dream of using that name. It’s such a vulgar thing to say.

    But then again, the Labour Party has been trying so very hard to appeal to the Maltese middle class since Muscat’s election as leader of the MLP.

    Sadly, they know nothing about the middle class. What we are seeing is the ignorant and self-absorbed version of what people like Muscat think is middle class. For them it’s about being a socialite, having money, and having an excessively high opinion of yourself. It has nothing to do with values and priorities, just image.

    Do these people think they are celebrities? What a joke.

    Maltese journalists/reporters are a total disaster and have no idea what reporting is all about. In an island as small as ours nothing should escape them.
