So much for Erin Stewart Tanti being in danger of dying

His sister posted this on Facebook this morning:
I know that a lot of people want to go visit Erin but for the moment he wants to be around his family … As soon as he wants to see others I’ll be letting them know personally .. Thanks again for all of the support.
If those people clamouring to go and see him are his pupils, their parents had best keep a close watch on them in case they do go anywhere near him.
And they had better examine the exact nature of his influence on them.
And if it is the parents themselves who are thinking of going, they need to get their heads examined.

Tiffullawx ta’ issa qiskom il-merhla ta’ Bendu. In ITU a couple of people are allowed.
Daphne, I think that it is this creep’s head that has to be examined.
What an absolute mess. It’ll be interesting to see how the media, schools and the authorities respond to the larger issues involved here – Malta needs to do some serious soul searching.
Hear, Hear. Could you imagine the size of the lynch mob if he took a cat to Dingli?
Imnalla mhux involut f’G E N S N A.
Gennata ikbar kien ikollna.
I despair at all the Facebook comments I am seeing. People are seeing all this information coming out about Stewart Tanti as an angry mob lynch, rather than a much needed wake up call.
Unbelievable, just unbelievable. People seem more desperate to defend the irresponsible adult than the victim and child in this situation.
I give up. Malta is chock full of pseudo-intellectuals completely void of actual moral integrity. All you have to do is ask them about their opinions on women and racism, and in my experience, their true colours then emerge.
Never thought that 23yr old perverts existed. But there you go.
Please stick to your “Labour party sucks” posts. thank you.
Why? Isn’t this true to fact? It’s good that Daphne brings to light such things. This is not character assassination as a certain section of the media tends to do to people.
A friend of Erin’s I gather?
What a scumbag u r Daphne! How anyone can make such accusations about someone who’s in itu, without even knowing the guy is beyond me? Who do you think you are? What makes you think youre in a position to try and persuade your moron followers that it was erin’s fault? Just COs he said fuck you? Imagine if lee Evans got this kind of abuse whenever he does a gig and says something about someone! In this idiotic country we dont know what freedom of speech is, and u got offended for what he said, so you are trying to turn this story as if it wr all his fault just so you can get back to him. What a country full of morons this is, taking yr side without even knowing any of the parties. U r now involving his sister as well, when she is heart broken. you ugly witch. And by the way u clever dirtbag, i am younger than you, but i wouldn’t dream of having sex with you, not because as youre putting it, it would mean i need help, but because i wouldn’t come close to u if u wr the last woman on earth. I know a lot of women i wouldn’t mind sleeping with who r in their 50’s and that doesn’t make me a pervert, its just that they r pretty and u look like something out of a horror movie! Now show me how clever u r and stay answering me paragraph by paragraph darling!
Johnny, for your own sake, seek immediate help.
How intellectual you can be moron
dont butt in anyone elses busines u stupid cunt. U trying to look good with daphne? Just fuck off moron, u r d one who needs help, don’t answer me directly, its Daphne i was talkin to and u felt d need to support her? As if u saying. I shld seek help is gonna make me change my opinion u sick bitch. This country is full of assholes like u, butting in other ppl’s business, get a life u dirtbag
You can call me all the names under the sun, Johnny, I don’t mind – I only wish that I was in a position to help you, and others like you, because I find your words heartbreaking, more than anything else.
Erin Tanti’s influence on the children he came in contact with may have done more damage than we think. I sincerely hope that their parents are reading what’s being written here, take note and most of all immediate action.
The fact is that whatever sort of relationship Erin had with his pupil was not an acceptable one. It’s extremely unprofessional for a teacher to be so friendly with a minor. It’s completely irresponsible for him to not inform the authorities about the girl’s condition.
You don’t need to personally know a murderer or a thief to conclude that their actions are wrong.
Erin does deserve some of the blame for what happened. So do the people in the girls life who didn’t pay enough attention to her to know how much pain she was in. So do the people who bullied her so horribly.
Just as much as Erin had the right to freedom of speech, unfortunately, so does Daphne.
[Daphne – Unfortunately, I have to butt in here to point out that your thinking is half-baked and your arguments half-assed. This teacher does not deserve SOME of the blame. He is responsible for the entire episode and faces prosecution under Article 213 of the Criminal Code, facing 12 years in prison. But in my view, he should more properly be incarcerated in a mental asylum, as any teacher who drives a 15-year-old pupil to Dingli Cliffs at 4am, when there is a police search on for them, and then jumps off with her, is clearly a psychiatric case.]
In future, when trying to form an intelligent argument against anyone, try using proper grammar. If you insist on using chat speech and displaying the English abilities of a 4 year old, do not end your paragraph with darling, it just makes the whole thing stupider.
Jien ninkwieta meta nara posts bhal ta’ Johnny.
Iktar ma jitkellem dan Johnny, iktar japprova kemm ghandhu ghoqda kbira.
U kemm il-fatti ma jmerihom hadd.
Just get a life and dont answer me directly, who the hell spoke to u moron. Are u another sick bastard who wants to look good? This has turned into a joke with everyone responding to each other here. Y do u feel d need to answer me directly, how empty yr life must be. I dont give a shit if u think I’m 4 or 40, dont be such a lowlife. Y are u butting in other ppl’s business? I was telling Daphne about Erin and u felt d need to correct me? What a stinky piece of shit u r man,Malta is full of them anyway, minding other ppl’s business!
Welcome to this blog Johnny, that’s how it works here, anything you say up for instant judgement.
Now calm down and get a proper keyboard.
Daphne, I beg to differ regarding your view that the man “is clearly a psychiatric case.” I represent mental health in the Disabled People’s Advisory Committee set up to help in Malta’s implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
You are not qualified to conclude that anyone is a psychiatric case, and it can even do harm to the case to say so, as we all know that there are criminals who try to convince the court that they are mentally ill in order to get a lenient sentence.
Criminal behavior and psychiatric illness do not go hand in hand. Rather, it is statistically more likely that the mentally ill fall victims of violence, than for them to be the perpetrators.
[Daphne – Any teacher who drives a 15-year-old pupil to Dingli Cliffs at 4am and then jumps off the cliff with her is a psychiatric case. And if you won’t take my word for it on the grounds that I am not qualified to state the obvious, then perhaps you would care to examine him yourself, or explain why a man who does that should be considered mentally sound. Had he killed her in some other manner, then I agree that he would not be considered mentally unbalanced, but driving a pupil to the cliffs and night and jumping off with her indicates a mind unhinged.]
Daphne learnt enough about this person when she was targeted by him in his public role as some sort of entertainer by opening his performance with a disgusting cold blooded virulent outburst of wanting to rape her.
Your vituperation puts you in the same class as the person you are defending for his share of responsibility in this untimely death of a juvenile entrusted in his care.
If he wished sexual assault on someone like that in public, then it is only proof that this guy IS psycho.
Poor girl. She died because of this sick maniac.
Dr Saliba,
The girl may not have even been entrusted in his care. How this man interfered in her very personal affairs be them medical, emotional or just growing pains, is beyond me.
Johnny, why should you expect Daphne to answer the rubbish you wrote?
As to who you have sex with, is not our concern, as a matter of fact some perverts have it with goats..
It’s not a matter of taste but it depends on the extent of one’s mental illness.
Johnny yours was not a 1 to 1 debate with Daphne but a very public outburst and since it was public everyone has a right to respond.
Somehow you think you can censor what is said on this blog simply by uttering the most foul language.
Let me inform you that that didn’t discourage me from making my point if anything it provoked me into joining the fray when in normal circumstances I would have never bothered to waste my time with the likes of you.
Being in the intensive care unit is not a mitigating factor which allows a person to escape scrutiny or public censure. That is why this man in under police guard even in hospital – because they don’t trust him.
Unfortunately your defence does not give one possible explanation as to why it was the correct thing to do to take a pupil to Dingli Cliffs at 4am when the police were looking for her after receiving a report from her family that she was missing.
One sure hopes that you are not a person in power: a teacher, a manager, supervisor etc, because with fudged moral judgments like yours, many people would be in danger.
You might be shocked to learn that it would also have been the right thing to do for anyone who knew that a teacher forgot his role and ethical code to raise the alarm in a situation like this.
Of course your argument became really strong and airtight when your mind turned to who or who you would not want to have sex with.
“I know a lot of women I wouldn’t mind sleeping with who r in their 50′s”. But then how old are you? If you are in your teens then that’s perversion.
Johnny, your teacher has obviously been a very bad influence on you.
Had I come to know that a teacher of my children says “fuck you” in public I would be the first to create hell and make sure he or she do not teach my children.
Johnny, did ‘Erin’ teach you that language?
All that I can say is that it is a real tragedy that she died and he survived.
Maybe ‘u’ should consider abstaining from any more verbal diarrhoea until you get your O-levels sorted. You’re throwing a tantrum. Time-out ‘darling’.
Johnny, your thoughts are disorganised.
The point that Erin said he wants to fuck this “witch” contradicts every point you have to say :) Nothing more than a disturbed person.
And leave enya out of your stories daphne!!!!
[Daphne – They are not stories, Ms Stewart. You should advise her to stop commenting in public about the case and also to stay off Facebook completely. Anything she writes or uploads on Facebook at this stage is going to be inappropriate. If she comments about the situation involving her brother, she will invariably make things worse (as with that insensitive comment about how her family understands how the dead girl’s family feel because they almost lost Erin too – when he’s the one responsible for her death).
And if she carries on as normal, uploading pictures of and comments about clothes, music and friends, she will be seen as detached from reality and indifferent to what has happened. I understand your anger, but it is completely misdirected. You are fortunate that Malta is a misogynistic society and so it is the (male) perpetrator who is being pitied, rather than his victim. The reality is that Erin, directly or indirectly, killed a 15-year-old girl. It is understandable that the more right-minded among us are shocked and incredulous.]
The title says it all. I mean jesus christ. He’s in ITU. How dare you?
[Daphne – Being in ITU is no mitigating factor. That’s why he’s under police guard, the police investigation is ongoing, and he faces prosecution. Speak to one of your parents. It’s they who should be filling this role in your life, not an unhinged 23-year-old teacher who can’t form relationships with people his own age, and who has done you a great deal of damage. I can see what he’s done to you even if you can’t. I’m your parents’ age.]
Sigh, being in ITU does not give one immunity.
It’s like these people don’t live in the real world.
They want to torture and kill the Mosta ‘cat-killer’ – but they want to visit and give well wishes to a teacher who formed an abusive and manipulative relationship with a 15-year-old pupil that SURELY led to her death.
Incredible … just incredible.
And a girl is dead.
My God, help these fools cause they are plain idiots and I blame the school for nurturing this attitude.
The international news for two long weeks have focussed on a plane that went missing probably due to a fault that occurred after take off. Over 200 people went missing and not one person in the families has said ‘thanks to the Malaysian authorities’ for being so professional in the way they’ve been handing all the pressure’ – not one and understandably so because they value life contrary to ‘brainwashed teen in denial’ who is celebrating death.
Those families did the right thing, pressured the authorities to give answers. I understand them, human life is so precious, so priceless, so important to anyone concerned and we defend morals from here because we care about Lisa who was sadly in the wrong place and the wrong time, with dangerous people.
Malta is a warped culture, raising teens who have no sense of right and wrong.
I wonder how long it will take for Labour to welcome him as an MEP candidate.
Why do I get the feeling they’re loving every minute?
You’re not the only one.
I could go on a rant here like I do in all of your other articles, which are clearly written with malicious intent and a closed mind, exposing you as a journalist who would rather pick at all the bad little things (in your own opinion), all the while making it obvious that you and those who comment on this blog agreeing with your views are on that list, rather than just leaving well enough alone and in this case offering your condolences to the ones affected by this. I could analyse what you say and in turn your psyche.
I won’t for the simple reason that it’s pointless going on a rant with people like you as the audience, because a closed mind will never accept new concepts or views. Your blog portrays opinion as fact and is aimed at only people who share yours.
A person died, another is in intensive care – at least wait a few days before you include them in the circus that is mass media. The families and friends of both of the people involved are going through hard times this week – I understood when you shared your closed minded views on politics, everyone’s entitled to theirs…but people have rights, the least you can do right now is respect those rights. How much lower could you possibly sink Daphne?
[Daphne – I’m sorry to be blunt, Edward, but at 19 years old the ramifications of what has happened here are beyond your comprehension, which is why your analysis of the situation, made elsewhere, was “these things happen”, as though a 15-year-old being driven to a cliff edge by her teacher at 4am is a spilled jug of milk. I’m afraid some people find it really hard to make the transition from trite remarks on Facebook to a proper discussion anywhere else, and here it is not your age that is the issue, because people my age are just as bad. At least you have the excuse of consummate lack of experience of life in your defence, which they do not.]
I think the problem her is:
1) the school and how it’s delivering
2) the children attending who are treating life as though it were ‘a Facebook page’ to the extent that they can’t see the reality through logic.
The effects of Facebook seem to me to be very devastating. I would think the worst is still yet to come out.
i fully agree with this man’s sister, that they should not go and visit him in hospital for the time being.
Unfortunately, for a different reason to the one she thinks.
Fortunately for him, he has a police guard round the clock.
He had better hope not many inmates find out about this story.
Johnny, as the mother of two daughters just a little bit younger than Lisa Maria Zahra, I would have found it extremely worrying were he their teacher, with all that I now know about him, EVEN if the Dingli Cliffs tragedy did not occur.
Clearly, you are still just a child yourself, or a very immature adult.
As if i give a fuck of what u think of my grammer u piece of shit. U r a turd of a journalist. U shld be writing about politics and other important matters in the country not butting in ppl’s personal busines u scum. As i said, u r revelling in the guy’s bad luck cause of what he says about you, it just makes u feel good u ugly witch. It certainly shows you’ve never been to a real stand up comedy u moron, u would know what is really said if u had been. Its called banter, its the whole point. What a sick piece of shit u r u asshole
Yawn…
Johnny, a contemporary of yours, a minor, is dead, and here you are, defending the adult teacher who drove her to her death, whether intentionally or not.
“i am younger than you” – really? That thought never occurred to me until you pointed it out.
A patient in a hospital ITU is, to my knowledge, in a critical state and is therefore at the risk of dying if his condition worsens.
[Daphne – Not everyone in the Intensive Care Unit is in danger of dying, David. It just means you need intensive care and round the clock monitoring. We are all at risk of dying if our condition worsens. It’s called life.]
No wonder it was so easy to hide paedophile priest in Gozo.
This island loves child abusers.
[Daphne – As long as they don’t mess around with cats.]
Erm, the culmination of local cinematic effort was Katarin.
The stuff of polite conversation at a dinner table to this day.
Thanks, Daphne, for making people aware.
Seems we are living in a world where abnormality is considered the norm and being normal is somewhat eccentric (or abnormal).
So sad that nowadays all is considered acceptable.
Erin Stewart Tanti needs psychiatric care, but he also deserves punishment after due process.
His own feelings over the matter and his own injuries are irrelevant.
Daphne, I agree with your covering this matter and providing a monitored forum in which it can be discussed properly and seriously.
This is not just a private tragedy, but a public disgrace.
I have met Erin a couple of times and thought him to be full of himself to put it mildly. However he is not dead; a 15-year-old girl called Lisa is and there’s no changing that.
Let justice take its course and let him pay for his crimes. My thoughts are with the families here.
