Now that butch woman thinks she can rule by royal assent as president by virtue of her make-believe royal blood.

This president gig has already gone to her squat head.

    Imbarazz. WHAT A BIG JOKE.

  5. WOW says:

I hope she finds time to apologise for the dark years we had when she was Secretary General of the Labour Party!

  6. canon says:

President Merliweeze started the presidency on the wrong foot when she visited her constituency in a pompous way. Constituency is synonmous to electoral district and as President she doesn’t have constituency. I have to say that on her first day President Merliweeze failed to unite the people.

‘ghajn ghal ghajn u sinna ghal sinna’ – the new social conscience of the country.

  9. Kapocca says:

We long suspected things were brewing behind people’s backs re Alfred Grixti-ex Zebbug mayor and left hand man of Max Ellul: the founder of the United Priories of Saint Lazarus Order

Now the suspicion is coming to fruition,

We would not be amazed that the current choice of a San Lawrenz farmhouse for the New President is directly linked to this news, particularly in providing a new Gozo hQ for the Gozo Commandery of Max Ellul (she did mention NGOs)

The basis of the suspicion: http://www.etc.gov.mt/NewsDetails.aspx?NewsID=69

What a bunch of hypocrites, going to mass kissing the archbishop’s hand and in a few days signing the gay adoption bill.

  11. Superman says:

A presenter in the crowd on TVM said to a tourist that Merilweez has just been elected.

    Elected?

    Of course not.

  12. farrugia says:

Top moment during this afternoon’s TVM transmission: Norma Saliba randomly asking people in St George’s square the reason they were waiting there, and the first interviewee was a foreigner who explicitly said on microphone that she didn’t have a clue of what was going to happen. The journalist’s flabbergasted reaction to this answer was highly amusing!

  13. v says:

Just saw the President walking down Republic Street and of all the children there, she choose to hold and kiss a child of a refugee/illegal immigrant.

Unbelievable trying to make a show of how much she loves illegal immigrants when she was part of a government who tried to push them back.

  14. pale blue my foot! says:

    Marxist president. No thanks.

  15. Jozef says:

According to TVM, those invited to the presidential mass included ‘persuni b’dizabilita’ u nies ta’ karnagun skura’.

Somehow the latter didn’t make it to the the palace courtyard to cheer her up the stairs.

A courtyard turned into another tinda, this one a transparent plastic. There was all the light equipment, power packs, mixers and wires one could pack into it.

Pity the cameras missed Goerge Abela’s arrival in St.George’s Square, too busy showing us Muscat gingerly threading up the steps, first lady emeritus leading the way.

Cackling caught on the camera’s mike.

I don’t need you people to tell me to treat old people, children, those with a disability or those whose ethnicity is elsewhere properly.

I don’t need your call for ‘ghaqda’ to do that. My parents saw to it since I was a child. The word to use is rispett.

    Stucchevoli.

Hilarious: -stan style hat and the whole story.

The precedent for ridicule, set by “themselves.”

  16. WhoamI? says:

What is sure though is that two of the 2008 MLP-leadership contenders are no longer in politics. George Abela and Merilweez Coleiro Preca. Michael Falzon has become a nobody, and Evarist is a minister, but will be signed off on counts of mental infirmity soon.

And Jo has quietly and surely dealt with all those who dared challenge him back in 2008 when he was just 34.

After all, Merilweez got the second-highest first count votes if I am not mistaken. Jo does not need such a challenge again.

  17. ciccio says:

The President’s meeting with ‘the most vulnerable’ under a tent in the yard of the Palace: they had been waiting there for her for over 6 hours, but she only spent 2 minutes with them.

The fly past: Faith, Hope and … wait a moment, it’s only two planes. Charity decided to stay at home. Marilweez will be doing a lot of it, with other people’s money.

  18. Anonymous says:

Dear Daphne I am sorry to say but you are mistaken. I am no fan of Marie Louise…far from it – I think she is a nitwit. However, not only it was not her decision to appoint Frans Grixti to the position of the FSWS CEO, but that in fact she learned about this appointment after that the inewsmalta issued the statement on their website. She was so surprised about it that she was on her way to Birzebbugia with Franco Mercieca to inaugurate a new facility for children with disability and she stayed in the car to discuss the news with Franco (who was also unaware of it all) and she arrived late to the inauguration. When she got out of the car she seemed extremely pissed off about it all, because Sina Bugeja was her pet and she was removed without Marie Louise’s consent.

Ms Coleiro was social minister. We know that she was a single mother. Can anyone tell us if she had registered her daughter as an unknown father and been paid any social benefits pertaining to unknown fathers?

  21. Question says:

    Hi,

do you know how much a Maltese President gets paid? Just curious. It is the highest possible wage, on level one, isn’t it?

  22. gaetano pace says:

A very long afternoon – vox pops, news clips, snippets and the omnipresent Xarabank.

But then people who stand tall, people of essence, never project an image neither of themselves nor of any of their deeds even if they be the greatest humanitarian deeds of all.

With such a big screen, as the public arena, the street, the kazin, the pjazza to project an image of a person in one`s imagination is the most degrading and ridiculous way that does not add any value to the investiture of a President.

There was nothing stately about this. It was street theatre.

  23. ken il malti says:

So if you need welfare and you are a PN supporter then you are out of luck Jack.
