Here’s the prime minister’s personal-cum-official car, being fixed at Romblu Garage in Hal Qormi

A member of my international worldwide network of spies just happened to be at Romblu Garage in Hal Qormi when the prime minister’s car was there for an overhaul.
Of course, Romblu Garage won’t tell us – but we really should know whether the bill goes to Joseph Muscat in Burmarrard or to the Office of the Prime Minister.
Given that he’s the lessor (as well as the lessee), the bill should go to the former. It’s the leasing company that pays for repairs and maintenance, which is the point of leasing rather than buying.
But given the nature of the prime minister, one rather suspects that the bill goes to his office, to be paid out of the public purse.

How very apt. Dak li jirrombla fuq kullhad, juza’ s-servizzi tar-Romblu.
Tal-genn dar-Romblu mid-derha, ghidli l-molol tas-seat ma’ dak is-saqaf.
Romblu.
Bhal zaqq Joseph imma, u l-mod kif ghaddej fuq kollox u minn fuq kullhadd.
They will do wonders to that Alfa and they will turn it into a souped up 1971 Ford Escort Mk 2.

Even though he’s the lessor and should be paying for repairs to the car he’s leased out, Muscat will never pay any expenses related to it.
He will just bank the 35k and keep the car at the end of the legislature.
Fair enough, he’s a Godsend and very appealing to Labourite steel soldiers.
Did Joseph Muscat’s enormous and ever-expanding butt ruin the springs and foam/rubber of the back seat?
Kieku nikollu wiċċu jekk iqiegħedli is-‘seat’ ta’ wara tal-karozza tal-iSkoda tiegħi fuq is-saqaf tal-karozza kif għamel fuq l-Alfa tal-prim ministru !
Naħseb għandu xi problema fis-sistema tal-petlor jew marritlu ix-xikapsover jew qiegħdha taqtgħalu u se jibdillu l-wirdiena.
Romblu? Is this the Government’s (car repairs) garage or is name by accident? Dr Simon Busuttil keeps referring to Government as Romblu. Am confused.
Marsaxlokk market is not Konrad Mizzi’s domain, right? Then why this?
‘In a statement it said, however, that agreement had been reached with the Ministry of Energy and Health providing that stall-owners would continue to occupy their current sites for their stalls and vans while a plan for the regeneration of Marsaxlokk was implemented. ‘

As for Muscat’s car, surely – for security reasons – it should not be undergoing repairs at some anonymous garage in Hal Qormi, where members of your international worldwide network of spies can get inside it to take pictures?
The only reason I can think of for taking apart the back seat is that they are installing an in-seat connection to turn his scrotum into a flashing blue light.
The name of the servicing garage is very appropriate to the ‘modus operandi’ of the PM.
Ir-Romblu must be rolling around in glee at being afforded the honour of repairing the Royal Carriage.
I’m sure Joseph must be getting heavier. The seat has been taken off to repair the fuel tank sensors beneath it.
Some heavyweight must have sat on the back seat, because these cars are delicate primadonnas and the seats are not that good.
Remember Joseph is now riding on the back seat.
Overhaul? Reason being? Bullet proof armour given Labour has this fixation about security (never mind the latest cock-up involving the MT Atlantik)? Ejector seats or maybe a gaming console for the family?
Or maybe he’s watched too many episodes of Pimp My Ride.
And seeing these pictures now, this car is worth far less than the comparable one from AVIS. This is a 1.8 petrol, whereas the one at AVIS is a diesel. Diesel cars retain far more value than their petrol alternatives.
EUR35k is even more than its original purchase price. Someone needs to challenge him. Alternatively, a quick call to Alfa Romeo in Malta would do. The model is 159 Lusso 1.8 MPI, and it must be a 2007-2008 model. He already had it when he was elected party leader.
Looks like Michelle’s having a woofer loudspeaker installed under her bum. Something to tickle her fancy I guess.
Somebody lost something precious. Diamonds?
Seems like somebody lost a 2c somewhere down there.
If Muscat’s car is in for repairs, then he must be using another one in the interim.
It would be interesting to know who is footing the bill for the replacement car. Is it Muscat, as should be since he’s the lessor, or the government – which is the most likely case considering over PM’s behaviour so far?
A conversion to gas, maybe?
The human type of gas. That is why the PM walk like that, the pipes get in the way.
State paid LPG conversion?
Quite possible. The rear seat has been taken out.
Romblu. How very apt.
Searching for bugs?
Romblu’s car at Romblu garage.
Maybe after this fix he will demand an increase in the annual lease value to above Eur 7,000.
Who’s paying the insurance, road tax and servicing? It is for the lessor to pick up the bill.
Now may I ask: how can a prime-minister double up as a car lease company?
Looks like Romblu got his iced bun too. He is a disgruntled former PN supporter who voted Labour and is now Taghna Lkoll because Mario De Marco didn’t see his mum for some petty favour, or so he claims.
How cheap is this – rather than servicing the PM’s official/personal car at an Alfa dealership, they took it to Romblu in Qormi, with the official plates still stuck on it.
Nixtieq nara l-ircevuta. Jew kollox sew jekk mhux arlogg tal-lira.
What does the purple card say?
He is probably having the fuel tank sensor checked – he can’t believe it marks full with so little money.
Rather than asking who will foot the bill, we should ask if this is a pjacir a la Qormija. Let’s find out who this Romblu is, because surely we are not seeing the whole picture. Ghandux xi application il-MEPA?
In the meantime, will the lessor provide an alternative car to the Prime Minister as happens in normal leasing arrangements? Or will the State (i.e. you and me) be paying for the alternative car as well?
Daphne why don’t you tell us how much the previous government paid for your house security by the Malta Police eh and for how many years?
[Daphne – That police security was not provided by the government but by the Police Commissioner at his insistence and certainly not at my request, once for a few weeks after a serious threat and another time for a few months for some reason the Commissioner would not disclose. Security was provided at night only and not 24/7. Bear in mind that my home was subjected to two arson attacks. I did not enjoy having a policeman at my gate and I did not want a policeman at my gate. I do not regard that sort of thing as a sign of status – I am not from that kind of background.
There was a different one most nights and I had no idea who some of them might be, and I discovered later indications that one or two of them might have passed the time by spying and invading our privacy. When the Police Commissioner rang to say that he was going to station a policeman at my gate during the last general election, I flatly refused. Ironically, he did indeed send two police officers to my gate at night: one from the Homicide Squad and one from the CID, to arrest me for uploading political material on the eve of polling day. I trust this answers your question.]
