Joseph Cuschieri says it was his choice not to turn up to Xarabank yesterday

Joseph Cuschieri said today that he’s the one who chose not to appear on Xarabank yesterday. Of course, we believe him.

The matter arose because the Nationalist Party sent along its two incumbents, Roberta Metsola and David Casa, but the Labour Party did not send its two incumbents Marlene Mizzi and Joseph Cuschieri, but the two it is pushing, Charlon Gouder and Miriam Dalli.

Well said Daphne, and, well thought. Its rather interesting why they keep taking us for fools. Is it possible that this sod cannot see how he is being manipulated? Perhaps an iced bun in the offing as long as he makes a fool of himself.

  4. John Schembri says:

We are being led by a bunch of liars.

When Labour had Louis Grech and Edward Scicluna in the European parliament, people said that they were an acceptable decent couple of men, forget Attard Montaldo.

Now we have Alfred Sant who is the bright guy among a bunch of wannabes.

Sant will be elected and Joseph will offer him the European Commissioner’s position offered to Karmenu Vella when Vella is rejected after his grilling in autumn.

Sant once confided to Dr Joe Brincat that his ultimate ambition was to be an EU Commissioner.

    Think on these lines.

Muscat schemed Cyrus Engerer’s elimination way back in June 2013, when the Attorney-General appealed that judgement. He schemed Karmenu Vella’s elimination some two months ago.

Il-Guy will be eliminated with the same tactic he tried to use to topple Tonio Borg’s candidacy at the eleventh hour when the Socialist group led by Muscat’s friend Martin Schultz withdrew its support for Borg.

Have you noticed that Charles Mangion is nowhere to be seen?

Most probably he was asked not to contest Coleiro Preca’s empty seat; he was asked to resign from EneMalta by our ever smiling Joey.

    Mark my words.

I am still hoping he will go back to Strasbourg.

If not, we will be lumped with him in some high-powered government job for the next nine years.

Simon Busuttil called the PL a factory of lies. He was on the dot.

  7. matt says:

Don’t worry he is scheduled to be designated our ambassador to Spain so he can be close to Zapatero. Muscat really betrayed him. Let that be a lesson to all.

He is totally responsible for this mess Malta is in today. Thanks to him Malta took a giant leap backward.

  8. kev says:

He’s referring to the short speech which every candidate was allowed in between the debates. He chose not to participate – for obvious reasons.

  9. makjavel says:

    and what about Alfred Sant?

  10. Pacikk says:

Miriam Dalli, maybe I can understand. But Charlon Gouder?

  11. Plotinus says:

Not only would Joseph Cushieri have not been a match for either David Casa or Roberta Metsola, he wouldn’t even have been good if he had the whole programme to himself.

What next, Louis Grech saying he was asked to go to the Vatican?

It may have been his choice, but it was a Hobson’s choice as it certainly wasn’t his decision.

  16. George Grech says:

What a pity. He lost the golden opportunity to promote the Cuschieri Chest Fund.

  17. Rumplestiltskin says:

Hobson’s Choice: Joseph Cuschieri or Charlon Gouder.

  18. David says:

He is right. All candidates should have been given equal times and the same holds true for all parties or groups. Some candidates are more equal than others and some parties are more equal others, whose airtime is only after midnight!

  19. J. Agius says:

Pull the other one, Joseph Cuschieri. Let me explain it in simple English just in case you don’t understand the expression – I don’t believe you.

  20. Socrates says:

PL has one record: its infinite sequence of lies and falsities, together with the egocentrism of its leader.

People are not realizing as much as they should that PL is presently leading us through a subtle form of dictatorship where what others think and if they think differently is ignored or, much worse, perceived as a lie. Joseph Muscat and Manuel Mallia, in particular are spearheading a lifestyle which is a far cry from true democracy.

    • Tabatha White says:

Manwel Mallia is there to neatly sew the contracts together, to bind the lies in legalese.

What a spiel they’re on to.

When governance takes a divergent path and there is nothing in legalese that is currently there to arrest it, then it – the legalese – must be created.

It is not the first time that an EU state registers such behaviour, but as long as there isn’t a precise term with which to describe it that is inserted into legalese from above, then the practice will continue.

Between genocide and correct governance there has to be a range of terms for conditions of bad governance that make it possible for citizens to lodge an international complaint.

If it doesn’t yet exist, the term needs to be created in order for there to be a foothold in the mind and a point of reference. We don’t go around saying “an object with three or four legs that one can sit on” because that complicates comprehension: once a concept or idea gains recognition in the mind, it is given a name: in the example given, “chair.” After that the subcategories are easier to name and define: chair, armchair, barstool, conference chair, footstool, etc. So with this case. We need a name for what is happening in a supposed democracy, and subcategories.

Where is that renewed security policy of the EU at? Has it taken cases such as ours into account? Already some months back, it was overdue. Simon Busuttil should be operating at this level. If he choses not to, then it is up to us citizens to lodge that complaint and request. Simon Busuttil would know the route to take. Giovanni Bonello has been gagged, it would appear.

Malta has elected a mob into power and this should have been possible to prevent from the outset.

I don’t agree that this is what we deserve.

No country is deserving of mob-rule.

Probably he was afraid that someone would ask him why he’s promising to donate half his salary if elected but did not do so previously. He’s already been receiving such a salary but never chose to donate half of it.

  22. Drood says:

Whatever happened to Manwel Cuschieri ?

    • Ivan says:

Manwel Cuschieri is currently missing in action. He is somewhere hidden along with the recordings of his radio programs. Remember Progressivi are in government now so no more crying and complaining. The government is doing a fantastic job and there is no need for Manwel to conduct his attacks on the government.

  24. George Grech says:
