Mrs Muscat’s fashion show to-do list: Office of the Prime Minister (tick), Girgenti Palace (tick), and now…Villa Francia (tick)

Published: May 5, 2014 at 7:14pm

A few days ago, the prime minister’s wife held a fashion show in the garden at Villa Francia, which had been bequeathed to the nation by its last private owner for the use of the prime minister in his official capacity.

She has already held a fashion show and a party for a high-street shoe brand in the Office of the Prime Minister at the Auberge de Castille and another fashion show at the prime minister’s official country residence, Girgenti Palace.

Here are some pictures from the Villa Francia show, held while her husband patronised the rest of us with a two cents discount on the price of petrol.

  1. Andrew Bonnello says:

I’m surprised Carina Camilleri (real name, Rita Grima) didn’t manage to stick her nose into this event too, unless of course the rumours of her clash with Mrs. Muscat are true.

    • L-iehor says:

I’m pretty sure they’re true. I’m told Rita Grima (aka Carina Camilleri) isn’t too happy with the Taghhom Lkoll clan.

  2. Jozef says:

I see the US ambassador and Mrs. Chinese ambassador are chums. Of course Muscat can’t make heads or tails of an interconnector and the South gas route.

At least not until Cyprus and Israel get on board, which they are. Very interesting times ahead.

Meantime Libya has a new prime minister. Let’s see how long he’ll last.

    Who’s Mr.Paisley ma non troppo?

  3. Manuel says:

Well, her husband gave us 2c worth of nothing. She keeps the rest, 98 cents for her parties, car, chauffeur etc., etc…

    • watchful eye says:

Please remember that those precious 2c are not ours yet.

The great folly comes into effect on 1st July. But nowhere did Joe Muscat mention that date in the grand launch. He thinks we are idiots. But we are not.

  4. Tom Double Thumb says:

Mrs Muscat is clearly making the most of it.

Just be grateful that the bills for these occasions are not paid by the public purse.

    Or are they?

    • La Redoute says:

If they’re not paid for out of the public purse, it’s even worse. That would mean that Mrs Muscat is commercialising her husband’s public office.

So what’s new? That’s just the flipside of commercialising private property (the PM’s personal family car) by leasing it to government for the Prime Minister’s use.

      • Tom Double Thumb says:

I am surprised Mrs Muscat has not yet copied the President’s idea.

Imagine how much money can be raised if she were to hire out the official residences of the Prime Minister for wedding receptions!

From what I know booking a wedding hall adds a considerable expense to new couples. And now there will be an even greater demand when same-sex couples join the queue.

An extra charge can be made if the couple wish to leave a plaque in the gardens to commemorate the event.

If that is permitted at Verdala Castle, why not at Girgenti, Villa Francia and even the Auberge de Castille?

Manuel Mallia can even set up a special Police Catering Corps for such occasions, making even more money.

And this would tie in nicely with putting an open market just outside Parliament House and a Mintoff Museum in the building itself even if most of the potential exhibits have already been sold at auction.

  5. Tinnat says:

Mrs Muscat should have a professional fitting for a good uplifting bra.

    • Abishop says:

I see she’s taking no chances with her eyesight and keeping those sunglasses firmly on.

Only, it is incredibly rude to address a gathering of people while wearing your sunglasses. It is a barrier between you and them. It is appalling manners.

I appreciate it was a bright and sunny day but never, ever, ever give a speech with sunglasses on – unless you’re a crime boss.

  6. P Shaw says:

The Chinese ambassador’s wife is taking pictures so that the production on the counterfeits can be immediately initiated back in China.

  7. H.P. Baxxter says:

I thought the US had touched rock bottom with Kmiec. Boy, was I wrong.

  8. Mark Vassallo says:

I just love the fact that Wang Jianqun is using an HTC phone. HTC is a company based in Taiwan, Republic of China. That is free China as opposed to Red China whose communist regime Wang Jianqun’s husband forms a part of.

  9. Romblu says:

That derrière won’t be venishink in tin er anytime soon either, Got bless.

  10. Michael says:

So much for working or helping the poor, that is so 16 months ago.

  11. ciccio says:

Has Mrs. Muscat made Villa Francia available for pre-wedding videos for same-sex couples?

  12. Tabatha White says:

I thought there were very strict conditions as to the use of the property in the will.

In my book, both parties have fallen foul of these conditions:

It was not to have been used by the Nationalist Party as an excuse to rewrite history.

Cheap fashion shows by cheap wives of cheap politicians with cheap guests in attendance just don’t cut it either.

  13. Gahan says:

I can spot three soldiers in their gala suits. Who’s paying?

  14. Monka says:

How come she’s not promoting her jewellery?

  15. May says:
