I’m guessing that the words ‘pogrom’ and ‘Kristallnacht’ mean nothing to this bunch of pig-ignorant Maltese

Are the Maltese among the most uneducated people in Europe? I’m beginning to think so. General knowledge, zero. Sense of place and context, likewise. Insight and self-awareness – wot det?

Maybe it’s all lost in translation: too many people here still think an educated person is ‘edukat’. But ‘edukat’ just means civil and polite – you can be the stupidest, most poorly educated person in Malta and still be ‘edukat’.

“Yes, I really read a lot! I’m on Facebook all day, reading Timelines.”

Il-vera qabda injoranti, f’gieh kemm hemm. And believe me when I say that it has little or nothing to do with social background.

    YES, THEY ARE!

As you have said, the level of general knowledge among most Maltese, of all walks of life, is appalling.

  2. Painter says:

These people have so much hatred in their hearts that they cannot stand seeing Africans in Malta doing things people normally do, in this case watching a World Cup match.

She’s going to control herself and not go to Marsa to smash up the immigrants’ television set ‘minhabba t-tfal’. I loved that.

  4. L. Gatt says:

Maybe someone should explain the difference between “nara” and “nahra” to Kurt Borg.

Malta is full of Brown Shirts ready to take the spoils of others, they just need the Fuhrer to let it start

Why do all racists do not know how to spell or construct a correct sentence? Are the two (being a racist and not knowing how to spell) maybe related? I’m beginning to think they are.

    • Calculator says:

While not all racists are illiterate and/or don’t read often, I think the two phenomena are related.

How could you be racist if you take the time to open yourself up to different written ideas and news articles from across the globe?

These tend to show the plight of migrants and anyone who suffers from unjustified discrimination to varying degrees.

Lack of general knowledge? Someone commenting on Malta Today told me, among other things, that the Arabs enslaved the Maltese for 900 years and that British and French ships at Trafalgar were rowed by Maltese oarsmen.

It’s not surprising, considering the sources he quotes:”You remember Twanny Scarpello and Charles Arrigo (both RIP) narrating stories of the Maltese under ‘il-Hakem’. “

Those people seem to have time to see the matches and they have a lot of extra time on their hands to moon about on Facebook and to come up with brilliant ideas such as ikissru kull m’hemm.

People like that are so narrow-minded that it is impossible to reason with them.

I truly believe that there is something really wrong and unsatisfying in their lives to make them so hateful towards others.

If ever there was any need for proof that Maltese instruction language has failed miserably, here is your proof right here.

Kemm ghadna lura. Veru ghadna lura. Very low level of general knowledge.

Alexandra Micallef, an exemplary mother. Can’t bear to think what values she teaches her children.

To many of you who commented on this,

I am very proud to call myself Maltese. If you lot think that twats exist only in Malta, you are being biased. Go abroad, anywhere in the EU and you’ll realise how people can be more stupid and ignorant than the Maltese ; I’d say France and the UK are excellent examples – in my experience, of course. Just try to realise how stupid it is to slag off one’s own nation – you are generalising. And as much as I loathe the typical ‘hamalli’, I still think that it is not the case for most of the local population. I just deplore the way many of you – who are conservative – think.

Just keep in mind that people like me -a 21 year old from Qormi, if that makes you feel better – start to feel inferior to others because of the way you generalise.

I’m saying this as I’m a follower of this blog, and I agree with most of what the author writes. I just hate the way people comment.

PS I am not being dramatic, just expressing my point of view.

You are only 21, that is your problem.

If you have been around a bit and actually spent considerable time overseas then yes you will understand that the Arab part of the makeup of a substantial part of the Maltese population is very alive and kicking in 21st century Malta.

Even jerks and twats in countries such as the UK (since you mentioned that country) are generally smarter and more civilised than even the people who would not ordinarily be considered as such in Malta.

      • Erasmus says:

The Arab part of the our make-up? Are you sure you’re not one of those whose scribblings grace the Facebook page in the snapshot?

  14. Not Sandy:P says:

It is not stupid to ‘slag off one’s own nation’ if it is typified by the likes of Alexandra Micallef and AFM gunner Kurt Borg. It beyond foolish for the, to slag off anyone given that they are the pits themselves.
