To be honest, I do not recall ‘ever’ seeing an obese English, German, French, Italian or European policemen (Malta apart).
Tkun idea tajba ghal Malta ghax hafna nies iqumu mir-raqda hekk kif tmissilhom il-but.
In the UK, you don’t tend to find morbidly obese policement. In fact, only 1% of them are according to the report.
The problem they had in the UK is how they measured it. They used BMI which isn’t always a true measurement. Some people with high BMI are perfectly fit and healthy, others with low/acceptable BMI might not be. In fact, there is a comment on the article in the link which says exactly that.
Very rarely do you see policemen who are tankijiet ha*a in the UK. Most of those whose BMI would be higher than normal, and hence considered obese, would normally be the solid beefcake type. And they are being asked to shed muscle and weight, or accept a pay-cut.
Just because their BMI is slightly high doesn’t make them obese, it would make them overweight. There are ranges for all BMI groupings. I imagine action would be taken if you are border line overweight/obese.
True though that BMI is not a very reliable system and waist circumference is more accurate and being preferred by professionals.
I agree that if you’re not fit to do your job, you should get your pay docked and I mean this for all professions- I’m not singling out policemen. I also think that if, after a given period of time, you don’t become fit (figuratively and literally)you should lose your job. You get paid to do a service not sit down on your arse eating junk food and doing f*** all.

What she didn’t say is that she formed part of a cabinet which supported the PM’s push-back threat. What happened in that case is that the promoters of racial hate took that as a go-ahead from the government which resulted in – guess what – even less acceptance of multiculturalism.
Imma iss dnubietha mahfura. Ja double face li hi.
“after he [John Rizzo] introduced regular physical training for the police, he discovered that sick leave went up – some 100 policemen out of 1,500 undergoing the training did not show up. He took action, and those unable to do physical exercises have been transferred to HQ for alternative duties.”

The Maltese tax payer will surely gain quite a decent amount, if this were to happen.
Ahjar qabel ma naghdu li din tkun idea tajba ghal Malta, naraw meta l-Pulizija ser jiehdu l-flus b’lura li kienu mwedha mill-PM fl-ahhar elezzjoni. Il-Pulizija ghandhom rwol important hafna fis-socjeta izda meta nigu ezempju ghal skala fic-civil dawn baqaw dejjem lura, filwaqt li professjonijiet ohra dejjem gwaganjaw. Dan l-attegjament jider li ser jibqa ghax l-introduzzjoni tal-union tal-ghazla tieghek se jwassal biss biex jifred bic-car dawk pro-PN minn dawk Pro-PL. Il-Pulizija gwadanjaw biss rikonoxximent denju fi zmien Dr Borg Olivier bhala PM u Dr DeMarco bhala Ministru tal-Intern. Il-bqijja dejjem kienu traskurati u aljenati biss b’xi allowances li mhux pensjonabbli jew b’certu postings, partikolarment issa meta suppost li kelna nifmu ahjar kif Gvern jaghti l-aqwa valur lill-meritokrazija fit-tmexxija.
There is a side to this story that has no been explored: if the police force is now allowing 70+ policemen in the force, then it would be perfectly logical to increase the police force’s retirement age to, say, 75.
Lose the pounds or lose the pounds.
Fantastic.
Pay cuts for obese policeman could make inroads into the nation’s deficit.
It would be amusing to see the obese Police Minister issue instructions on what is to be done with obese policemen.
