The poor sap and his FB friends haven’t worked out that it’s satire

There’s a satirical piece called ‘Malta voted best country in the world’ on Media Mass, and an excited Manuel Cuschieri has uploaded the hot news on his Facebook Timeline together with many exclamation marks.
His FB friends have rushed to Like it, and to comment about how God must bless the prime minister.
At this point, who cares anymore? Time to wrap myself in a German flag and fly an Italian one from the rooftop while hoovering up Joe Grima’s pastizzi.

What about an award for some of the most dense people around?
Jobs are already being ‘awarded’ to those who are unfit for purpose, intellectually and physically, so let’s not get any bright ideas and start a craze with awards ;)
The AWARD is how Excellent Our Wonder Prim Minister is Leading Our Country after the last 15 disastrous years by the PN
Jahasra kemm qeghdin tajbin!
Jesus Christ. No wonder Labour wins the election. Just put up a positive headline and let them believe.
Sadly, that’s the truth.
They really believe it, don’t they!
They do indeed – and if you dare to argue otherwise they’ll brand you a traitor or tell you you must be totally mad.
Or negative
Surely they believe it ,when we are so positive about ourselves.
It goes to show that when their PM leads them by their noses, they are not in a position to notice it, let alone comprehend his manipulation.
Jibilgħu kollox bħal mazzun. Sewwa qed tgħid, mhux ta’ b’xejn rebaħ l-elezzjoni l-PL għax tahom lixka, u lanqas biss xammewha aħseb u ara kemm flewha, u nqabdu bħall-mazzun. Tabilħaqq bla moħħ.
Jekk Muscat innifsu belaghha sa grizmejh, kif tistenna li l-qlafat ta’ mieghu m’humiex ser jibilghuha huma wkoll.
Pheww!…and i thought that Fiji had won the award!

lol
ha ha ha ha… a quick Google search shows that even other countries have won same award. Carbon copy reports with just the flag in main picture and name of country changed. I wouldn’t be surprised to find this item in Super One’s news bulletin.
The seriousness of the problem, as has been repeated ad nauseam, is not that the country is littered with cretins but that they are the predominant element in our society.
Oh for f**k’s sake – how can these people be eligible to vote? Still, I guess that rushing in to brown-nose Joseph Taghna merits a job or a flat… in their eyes at least.
You’re talking about Manuel Cuschieri, for heaven’s sake. I would have been surprised if he didn’t fall for that joke.
mass harakiri
Jew Noah’s Ark. one big flood, one ark, two of each species, and start from scratch.
There I was thinking that Joseph Cuschieri was the biggest nincompoop the MLP ever displayed when suddenly, out of nowhere, his brother Emmanuel explodes onto the scene and pips him to the pole.
Anyone want to bet that Eddy is thanking his lucky stars he missed that post and saved himself further embarrassment?
Haha all you need to do is change the “mt” in the url to something else like “pt” or “en” and the text will change accordingly…..hence http://en.mediamass.net/world/af/best-country.html
And a quick look at the list of Likes and Shares reveals Hugh Anastasi, whose party-house was the set for the high drama in Labour’s ‘Ded, jien ha nnivota Lejperrr’ video – too drunk to read the piece, I suppose. Or worse.
In the meantime, the madness continues.
There must be a profusion of such idiots who do not recognize satire when it stares them in the face and who would swallow hook, line and sinker the stinking bait dangled before their noses.
If ignorance were music notes, Cuschieri’s mind would be a symphony.
Qadsa Mad**na x’ injoranza ta’ nies.
People have been sharing Cuschieri’s status on Facebook and I’ve been tempted to comment that it’s not true, but then I said why bother? Most probably I will only be called a spoilsport or accused of trying to make fun of St. Emanuel.
I have had occasion to quote my 12 year old on this blog before. For obvious reasons I dont allow him to post. However I will take this opportunity to post his thoughts. According to him, the best socio-political system is a benign monarchy – the reasons he brings in support of this is that most of the time monarchs feel responsible towards their subjects while it does not seem to be the case in certain democracies. Another two reasons that he brings forth in support of his theory are that in certain cases of errant monarchs, these had to pay with their lives for their bad governance and in democracies the vote of an illiterate counts as much as that of the learned.
Some 12 year old you’ve got there. Certain 50 year old people don’t have his reasoning powers.
We share the “prize” with 13 other countries…

With voters like this, we are really and utterly lost, not that I had any doubts.
As Winston Churchill wisely observed democracy is the best available form of government but only in theory and as long as you do not try to hold an intelligent discussion with prospective voters for five minutes – then you soon realize that it cannot be true when a fool is born every minute and he has the same single vote as a learned sage.
Democracy offers even the utterly ignorant to rise to a level of education and discernment.
The problem, however, is whether they can grasp the opportunity to do so.
Even a five-year-old would notice immediately that it’s satirical, thus probably they read only the title without bothering to read the whole article.
However, considering the IQ level of certain people, I wouldn’t be surprised that they didn’t notice this since they are used to accept as true whatever the (PL) media says.
[Daphne – They don’t speak English, or speak it only at the most basic level. So it is impossible to detect that this is satire. It’s the same reason they are outraged at what they think I have written. They can’t detect the context or the subtext.]
All you have to is change the country code.
