Because their plans to turn his rescue into a PR coup for themselves have blown up in their faces…

…largely because they made themselves ridiculous by turning up to meet the plane en masse, which was not their place, and blatantly giving their back to Marisa Farrugia, they are now attacking Martin Galea and trying to discredit him instead.

This is the real face of Labour. More fool those who thought that this time it would be different. Why did you think that? Would you marry the same alcoholic wife-beater twice just because he’d told you he’d changed?

I like the wife-beater analogy Daphne. It fits perfectly well.

  2. canon says:

How did L-Orizzont have access to Martin Galea’s medical records?

  3. M says:

Well, what do you expect from below-the-belt experts?

These tactics always serve more than one purpose, discrediting the primary target(s) and as a severe warning to anyone who dares contradict what the regime demands.

  4. La Redoute says:

    Who gave l-Orizzont those scans?

    • M. says:

Obtaining a CD with ONE’S OWN medical imaging scans through the normal channels at Mater Dei Hospital means completing a form at the customer care department, showing your ID card to the clerk, and paying a 15 Euro fee at the billing section. One must then wait a number of days until the CD is ready for collection.

Having said that, I am pretty certain that any doctor who knows Martin Galea’s ID number can access the images online, possibly even remotely, so the “provider” is anyone’s guess.

There really should be an investigation about this particular case, since the results were leaked.

      • Snoopy says:

I do not think that it is fair to implicate health care workers in a scam such as this.

If you actually read the caption, it is very clearly stating that these scans are similar to the Martin’s, so they have been obviously obtained through a Google search:

        http://www.salon.com/2013/07/11/can_ct_scans_give_you_cancer_partner/

Having a normal CT does not necessarily mean that one has not been tortured. Torture can be produced by a number of ways and if the person is really trained at it, that person will hardly leave any signs.

These persons have no sense of ethics.

      • M. says:

Yes, Snoopy, I know what you mean. The medical results, however – if not the scans themselves – WERE leaked to L-Orizzont.

As for Martin Galea himself, yes, I believe that both he and his wife are clearly trautmatized, and understandably so. I saw them at Mater Dei Hospital yesterday.

There should be an investigation into why/how the results were leaked, but, more importantly, Mr and Mrs Galea should be given the time, space and peace they would, understandably, need at this point in time, away from the public eye and from any speculation.

  5. Claude sciberras says:

I cannot understand what they are trying to say. That this person is a liar? That he is faking his ordeal for attention?

If so why did half the cabinet go to greet him?

And why did they send in a private plane to get him?

If he was safe in the hands of these people why did the minister tell us it would be best that one does not discuss the issue because it would be safer for him?

If this was a simple collection of a Maltese national why was the family only notified once the plane was in Maltese territory?

I can’t believe that someone would draw so much attention to himself in such a situation unless he is truly upset with what is being said.

Then again I do not know this person so maybe someone could vouch for him. Also could someone get the consul’s side of the story or is she being muzzled?

  6. G says:

CT scans ‘similar’ to those carried out on Galea. Incredible!

  7. Joe says:

Maybe I am mistaken but aren’t medical details including X rays confidential? If so, who is reponsible for issuing these ( if they are Martin Galea’s ) to the press?

  8. davidg says:

Can medical tests go public? If not , will we have an investigation and those responsible fired and prosecuted according to law?

    • M. says:

Obviously not. One cannot even access the medical records of their own offspring unless such offspring are minors, let alone complete strangers accessing the records of others.

  9. Wistin Schembri says:

Isn’t this the same newspaper that toed the same party in Government’s line that Nardu Debono escaped from the Police HQ (rather than that he was killed there), that people between 1981-87 banged their heads against the wall whilst arrested (rather than that they were tortured); that Pietru Pawl Busuttil was involved in Raymond Caruana’s murder (rather than that he was framed by the Police), etc?

  10. Gobsmacked says:

Exactly how low can they get?

    • Catsrbest says:

My answer to your question is – these scum only have a ‘black hole’ or a bottomless pit and thus their only way is naturally further downward.

  11. just jack says:

I can confirm through professional experience that yes, they do remarry their beating husband.

  12. Bubu says:

    Unf*kingbelievable.

Is there no limit to how low these people can go?

Having listened to his interview on The Malta Independent, the truth of his testimony is, in my view, unquestionable. He gives too many details and the narrative is too consistent to have been invented. Not to mention his obvious emotional distress which was evidently not faked.

The video of Mr. Galea’s arrival clearly shows him having had significant bruising on his head, with both location and degree of healing consistent with the events and time line of the narrative he gave to The Malta Independent.

What did they expect to find in X-rays and CT scans? He had no fractures or internal injuries. And his physical state upon arrival is completely consistent with his story.

Do they really have to keep digging deeper now that they have been exposed for the scum that they are?

  13. M. says:

So now there’s a mole at Mater Dei Hospital too. What has the Data Protection officer got to say about the medical test results being leaked?

  14. Jozef says:

If they can do this in plain sight, imagine what they’re up to.

  15. M. says:

That article was written yesterday. Martin Galea was definitely at Mater Dei Hospital today – I saw him myself this morning with his instantly-recognisable wife. After going through such a trauma – which will probably haunt him for a while yet – he clearly deserves privacy, and not public speculation. Shame on the Labour Party machinery and that of the government.

  16. White coat says:

Not in Josephland for sure. In Josephland everything and anything is possible and therefore no investigations are needed.

    Talking of investigations:
Yesterday an 18 year old Syrian boy fell to his death while doing plastering work on one of education Minister Evarist Bartolo’s school-maintenance works awarded by the FTS through tenders that are supposed to be checked for precarious conditions of work. This worker was working on a plank hanging by a rope. Where were the health and safety people employed through another tender to check that all is safe according to regulations? is these a magisterial investigation going on? Or is it in abeyance because the victim is an illegal immigrant working with permit?

Where are the journalists these days? When the Foundation for Tomorrow’s Schools issued a LM500 direct order way back in 2002, the MLP through Super One demanded the then Minister of Education Dr. Louis Galea’s head on a silver platter. But now, the death of a worker causes not even a ripple anywhere.

Can some journalist handle this scandal?

    • Paddy says:

How can he be an illegal immigrant if he was working with a permit?

    • Jozef says:

Yes, saw that, no lifelines, no harnesses, just a plank.

Someone’s being extremely thrifty and bil-ghaqal.

In the minister’s building sites if you please.

You should see the quality of the works, hilarious; Maria Regina, the quintessentail modernist building, reduced to a patchwork of every available sack of cement.

Per la serie, ‘issa ahna jmiss ghax taghna lkoll; hekk nafu naghmlu, ghallinqas ghamilna xi haga, ara x’ghamiltu intom.’

  17. Natalie says:

Hasn’t he suffered enough? He’s probably gone through an ordeal to last him his whole life. He’s now safe, just leave the poor man alone.

  18. curious says:

“Journalists from this newsroom who interviewed Mr Martin at his home were shown the marks on his head and the palm of his hand, as well as a cut on his wrist he suffered when he was tightly handcuffed. For some reason these were not included in the medical report.

Mr Galea noted that when he was examined at Mater Dei, senior Malta Security Service (MSS) personnel were in the ward and heard everything he had told the medical staff.”

  19. chico says:

As I have always said, when you think it just can’t get any worse (read:stoop lower), it does.

  20. Gaetano Pace says:

Is this where the Commissioner for Data Protection should have delved to ascertain that there is no such blatant and flagrant breach of the Data Protection Law provisions ?
