Did the prime minister really say GonziPN when referring to government policy?

How shabby. I quote the report in Times of Malta:
“Just as GonziPN had the political will to invest in a new Parliament building and start the construction process almost immediately, a Labour government will have the political will to deliver on its energy plan,” (the prime minister) said.

I really don’t think there is a power station in the works at all. I think he promised that thinking that his passport scheme would rake in the money and so he would be able to pay for it all, but it won’t.
My thoughts too.
If the Joseph Muscat imposed penalties on the contractors of the parliament project for delays beyond the agreed dates, will he be imposing penalties on Electrogas Malta Ltd if they fail to deliver 200MW of electricity at the price of 9c6 from March 2015, the date which he himself set for the delivery of the project?
If penalties of Eur 20,000 per day were imposed on a project of Eur 80 million, then the penalties on the Eur 400 million power station must amount to at least Eur 100,000 per day.
I hope that today everyone (mostly switchers) realises that the thinking behind the famous roadmap was: L-ewwel nirbhu l-elezzjoni u wara naraw.
[Daphne – I disagree with you. I think there was most definitely a crafted plan – to make money, and not for the country.]
I agree with Daphne – considering that Labour inherited a country with the infrastructure almost complete, airport, hospital, power station, they had to dream up some way to make some money themselves.
Jien għandi f’moħħi li l-power station issir, imma taf meta? Lejlet l-elezzjoni li jmiss biex lin-nies jgħidilhom li minkejja kollox avolja tard imma l-power station wasslet u jerġa’ qabel l-elezzjoni jraħħas b’xi ftit ċenteżmi d-dawl u l-ilma biex jirbaħ il-voti u xejn aktar.
Imma sadanittant aħna nkomplu nitqannew bi gvern inkompetenti li wikkewlna dawk li ħasbu li se jkun hawn xi bidla ta’ barra minn hawn u bqajna fejn konna jekk mhux ukoll ġejna agħar.
I agree with both. The Labour Party’s general state of mind was L-Ewwel Nirbhu Imbaghad Naraw – you can see that from their lack of preparation to govern – but there was also a plan to develop a power station and they had the company in place already. That was to provide the basis on which they would ensure their victory.
Whereas I am totally convinced that no power purchase and gas supply agreements have been signed yet – contrary to what was reported in Times of Malta but confirmed by Enemalta on its website and by a close analysis of facts – Electrogas has been given access to prime industrial land at Marsaxlokk. Even if they never build their power station, as long as they can hold on to that land, they’ve done a good deal.
Has anyone ever valued that land and informed the public about its value? It is effectively the government’s contribution to the project and part of why the government would be able to obtain a lower cost per unit of electricity.
Ciccio,
The Lands file is the one that most markedly got transferred to the Office of the Prime Minister’s control.
The whole setup is shabby, you know. There is not an ounce of professional practice in the work being done.
In the last 15 months they have not proposed ONE project, but instead have been working on the projects started by the last government.
Q: How long should an MEP serve as an MEP to be eligible for an MEP pension?
A: Until he finishes some report.
Q: How long should a prime minister serve as a prime minister to be eligible for a parliamentary pension?
A: Two years.
What is really shabby is the way the Prime Minister speaks. He still seems to have the frame of mind of a cheap PL supporter – out to just jibe and taunt referring to the previous administration as GonziPN. Once from the sticks…
agreed
He must use GonziPN Daphne, mythology decrees nothing survives GonziPN, and true nationalists are safely inside the movement.
It’s that fragile.
Well said.
