From Super One TV to France 2: John Dalli takes his soap-box to Paris
John Dalli was on French national TV station France 2 yesterday, on a show called ‘Cash Investigation’ (the producers couldn’t possibly have been aware that back home he’s known as Johnny Cash), propagating the lie that he was deliberately brought down by a sleazy and corrupt cabal composed of Jose Manuel Barroso in league with Philip Morris International and the tobacco lobby.
The corruption of his sidekick henchman, and his own suspected involvement in a request for a massive bribe, had nothing to do with it, of course. The programme’s producers conveniently left that out, because it does not fit in with their thesis of the tobacco lobby controlling Europe.
Whether the tobacco lobby does or does not control Europe is a completely separate matter to the reasons why Dalli was kicked out of office.
I can’t stand half-assed journalism that starts out with a thesis and then fits ‘facts’ to back it up.
