After our senior police officers caught on video saying Qalla, Qlustja and Il-qahba kemm, we now have the prime minister’s consultant and adviser (and long-time Super One star) Glenn Bedingfield telling somebody on public view on Facebook: Mohxi bhalek dak.

Probably what shocks me most is not the ‘mohxi’ but referring to people as ‘dak’ which strips a man – regardless of how controversial he may be – of his dignity and human complexity.
Abu Bakr al- Baghdadi has stripped himself of all humanity. That leaves him with no dignity.

This is the way to get to the top and be admired – swearing, foul language etc. They think people admire them for this behaviour.

Now, that’s what I call a neck tie.
And this man was deemed more eligible/worthy to attend the VIP event at the Upper Barrakka during Prince William’s visit than other individuals of real significance to Malta and its history. I am thinking of Eddie Fenech Adami and Lawrence Gonzi but I am sure there are many others.

Is there a competition among some public figures to see who will reach the deepest level of crudeness?
