AD too says the PM should sack Manuel Mallia

Published: November 20, 2014 at 5:06pm

Carmel Cacopardo, AD deputy chairman:

Minister Mallia should resign immediately or be removed. He should shoulder his political responsibilities because he is ultimately responsible for the actions of his staff.

It is simply unacceptable for the Police Minister’s handpicked staff to shoot at people. A serious Prime Minister should have demanded the immediate resignation of somebody like this.

Anything less would mean that it is acceptable for Minister’s drivers and staff to see themselves as being above everyone else and untouchable.

‘..It is simply unacceptable for the Police Minister’s handpicked staff to shoot at people…’

    This must be Arnold Cassola.

Now that even Mr Cacopardo has pooled in his 2-cent piece we’ll soon get the PM’s tenner on the matter. Meanwhile, lets count those bullets, shall we.

It is a pity that Franco Debono e bella compagnia do not have a seat in parliament anymore. They would surely have moved a motion of no confidence in Mallia and his prime minister.

Where’s Franco Debono? Where’s Jeffrey Pulllicino Orlando and where’s Jesmond Mugliett? Isthu jekk tafu kif.

Are they busy checking whether there might be some photo or other of themselves celebrating with some trigger happy person?

    • Drinks With Vince Micallef says:

From what I know of them, the first two at least would totally approve of Paul Sheehan’s behaviour and the fact that the police minister has a gun-carrying policeman for a driver. It’s the sort of thing they crave for themselves. Jeffrey PO in fact has or until recently had a soldier seconded to him as a driver and protection officer, and Debono has a fixed point protection officer at his front door – he also has a chauffeur paid out of public money but we don’t know yet whether he also carries a gun.

‘..The Commission said that consular assistance was offered to the British national…’

How sick is it to know they’ll think twice in Stephen Smith’s case?

During the press conference today, Minister Mallia claimed (see 45-50 sec in the clip http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20141120/local/update-8-shooting-incident-ministerial-driver-suspended-from-all-duties.544812) that PC Sheenan identified himself as a cop while following the Scotsman Steve Smith with his car.

I wonder how he could have done so during the car chase. Did he stick his head out of the side window while driving hell for leather and chant ‘ni-no-ni-no-ni-no?’

So much for the ace defence lawyer.

    • Neil says:

If you’re being chased by a nutter in a high performance car, waving a pistol around (which he’s just shot at you), and screaming at you to stop because he claims to be a policeman, surely you’d comply and pull calmly in to the side of the road, wouldn’t you?

Especially if you are in a strange land and most of the people seem to be weirdos.

      • Padre, figlio e spirito santo! says:

Of course, I would even take off my dark overcoat so that he can aim with ease.

    • Molly says:

Lies always leave loose ends and this is a glaring loose end. Was it a hit and run or was there a verbal exchange where the driver identified himself?

Could the driver say that he is a police officer, was he a police officer at that point in time?

There are more holes in the story than a pigeon coop.

Isn’t it remarkable how the minister’s driver took off much later than Mr. Smith (he heard the noise of the impact from inside) but he managed to overtake and block Mr. Smith’s car yet it is stated that it was Mr. Smith who was the one driving dangerously.

Thank goodness your site’s traffic is virtual. You would have needed extra traffic control officers if it had not been. We sure do not need any more trigger happy cowboys!

We are getting so much sh** from this government that this is definitely the way to go:
