Manuel Mallia’s head of secretariat told Manuel Mallia’s driver to lie about the shooting
Malta Right Now reports today that Manuel Mallia’s driver was told, immediately the shooting happened, to lie about it and say that he fired warning shots into the air.
The person who gave him those instructions, the news portal reports, was a high official in Manuel Mallia’s ministry. I can report that it was in fact Silvio Scerri.
This dovetails with what Malta Today reported yesterday: that that same night, and even as journalists were on the scene in the tunnel, Silvio Scerri rang them to correct their report and say that ‘warning shots were fired into the air’.
You can see what is happening here: Silvio Scerri is going to be axed so that his boss doesn’t have to be (they think). Scerri will then reappear in a new incarnation with much bigger perks, just like Cyrus Engerer and Anglu Farrugia.

Obscene. This is nothing but obscene.
Who is Silvio Scerri?
What does the country owe him?
It’s nothing to do with what the country owes Silvio Scerri, my dear birdie.
It’s what Fatty Mallia and Muscat themselves (and, possibly, others as well) owe Silvio Scerri, which could be at the centre of this obscenity (and perhaps others like it, too).
It is not enough that Scerri goes and Mallia stays. That would be a grave mistake.
The PN must not be misled on this one.
On the contrary, if Scerri goes, there is more reason for Mallia to step down. Mallia chose him and stood by him throughout the whole legislature whenever he ran into trouble.
Is Scerri still going to the Isle of MTV? He is notorious now and everybody will recognise him.
“When Silvio Scerri, Home Affairs Minister Manuel Mallia’s chief of staff, could not get his way he asked a police officer nearby to arrest Khiron Security head John Muscat.”

I really think Muscat should sack Mallia, screwing budget week like that.
They have started with the diversions. The fearless and strong government. (Pity it’s only with the weak.)

I know for a fact, through certain friends in Labour (4th floor, etc), that the inner circle wanted to get rid of Anglu Farrugia already in 2009. But because of political expediency, they had to stay the course and wait for the right moment, close to the end of the race, as it were. When the right moment came, they struck with the might of Thor.
And the rest is history.
Now, I don’t know for a fact, but my instinct tells me that the same fate awaits Silvio Scerri. Mallia must have realised the big blunder he made appointing his campaign manager as Head of Secretariat, but he could not backtrack as he would have made a fool of himself.
So now that the chance has come, I’m sure Mallia will chop Scerri’s head off, not just because it’s his only way (in his mind) to save himself but because it’s been on the cards for quite some time.
20 months more or less.
[Daphne – I doubt it. Those two are in cahoots. Really in cahoots.]
I don’t agree. These two are in cahoots not only with each other but also with the prime minister. If not they would never have been put there in the first place.
Let them both go. For the first time I feel I have to be anonymous because I feel big brother is watching dissenting commenters.
It’s truly becoming a frightening situation and I ask everybody to be careful. And it will get worse.
People should take off their blinkers and assess the situation intelligently. Wake up and give all the support to those who have the courage to stand up for your rights.

You may be right, because after 10 years on the Competent Persons Register with the OHSA in Malta, I just got unceremoniously removed for being suddenly “incompetent” it seems – even though I work as a HES team lead for a super-major oil company dealing with very high risk complex well drilling and completion programs, EIAs, Occ hygiene assessments etc.
Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose.
Who was Sheehan’s lawyer?

Why would a police officer whose conduct was not in line with that of a police officer, according to the law courts, be retained as a police officer?
Still more pertinent is the question, why would he be allowed to carry a loaded weapon, in public to boot?
I still don’t see how he planned to proceed thereafter. It explains why the vehicle had to be removed immediately, but what then?
Conceal the bullet holes with compound filler? ‘Lose’ the vehicle? Threaten Morrison into silence?
It doesn’t make sense.
Scerri wants the film studios which house the water tanks. He’ll probably get them and the permit to build too which was never granted to the previous operator.
