It’s just so unprofessional. Would I feel comfortable taking my eyes to Franco Mercieca? No, I would not.

If Franco Mercieca was honest he would say the same thing he said to others in his private practice:
that he’d never seen such confusion in his life, and that he couldn’t wait to go back to his private practice.
A vacant place is needed – prepare for it.

Franco Mercieca needs a good eyesight examination if he isn’t seeing the shocking facts unfolding in this country.

Anybody taking bets on what the retired judges’ inquiry will conclude?
They will present a thick report of background and generally irrelevant information, just to give some semblance of seriousness, and then conclude that there was a gross abuse of duty by Sheehan, a serious lack of proper communication in the Police Force and recommendations on improvements to the system. Just that.
Don’t even expect any finger-pointing or slap on the wrist to anyone minimally political.
The important thing is to find the sacrificial lamb for Muscat and his bunch of cronies, especially Mallia, to come out of this unscathed.
Simon Busuttil did the right thing in not wanting any part in this charade.

People here tend to glorify those in certain professions for the simple reason of them having the title rather than for the people they really are.

People embroiled heavily in politics do not have some special compartment in their brain to section politics on and off. Those who believe so are fools.
Irrespective whether a Laburist is a surgeon or an unskilled worker, logic will still be flawed. Education and a few degrees do not always lead to an ability to reason.
This brilliant eye specialist should stick to his business in the clinics where he provides excellent service to people suffering from eye problems, at a very high fee.
He should also know that whatever conclusions are reached by the investigative board constituted by the Prime Minister will be only partly meaningful, as he should clearly know.
The scene of the crime was certainly changed with the removal of the hit car away from where it was actually stopped during the accident. The string of untruths told to the public by the Prime Minister, Manwel Mallia, Kurt Farrugia and the Department of Information make the conclusions of this investigative board even weaker.
Let’s be clear: it won’t be the retired judges’ fault if the investigation conclusions are incomplete, even though knowing Joseph Muscat they should have refused to be the board’s members.
I went to him for an eye-test once a while ago (before he became a politician) as I heard he was one of the best, and I found him to be extremely rude and insensitive when I told him I was worried about my continually deteriorating eyesight.
At that point I had had my prescription increased three times in one year. He just snorted at me condescendingly and tried to make me feel stupid for even mentioning it. Wasn’t surprised when he ran as an MP on the Lejber ticket.
I know of various professionals who, like Dr Franco Mercieca, are brilliant in their professions but when it comes to politics they lose all their intellectual and reasoning skill and will excuse the PL even of murder.
I haven’t yet found an explanation as to why they act like this.
