Lots of you are going to be happy to find out that the ‘next’ and ‘previous’ buttons are back. There’s also a new function which tells you which posts you have read. And if you scroll down to the bottom of the page you’ll find an email address the terms under which news, information and photographs can be submitted. I am the only person who has access to that email address.

    http://www.independent.com.mt/articles/2014-12-02/local-news/New-power-station-to-be-completed-by-June-2016-Energy-Minister-Konrad-Mizzi-announces-6736126720

It’s clear why they had to wait, interconnector first, excess supply later. A delayed interconnector, blasted Italian bureacracy, halted everything.

And wasn’t that irrelevant to Mizzi’s plans, 25% capacity and whatnot?

Which however prompts the question why they had to align the two suppliers into ‘one’ investment. So much for competition lowering prices.

Funny how an investment in Labour language implies guranteed return for eighteen years, no questions asked.

We have until June 2016 to prise that blessed rate per unit from the minister. Even because the interconnector can go wrong, miskin.

So the option of gasoil still on the cards, thank goodness BWSC can take HFO, gasoil and gas.

Jetty works to start in January, that’s stormy season.

  14. David J Camilleri says:

Prosit, Daphne! I got used to the way it was but those keys and the new tabs are an asset to your blog.

These additions make your blog more user friendly and easier to read.

    Thank you!

Making it easier all the time.

Good work, keep it up, as you are the only ‘journalist’ who does not mind telling the truth backed by indisputable evidence which bothers the marmalja so much.

    Thank you. Forever grateful.

This gem by Labour’s Deo Debattista at the bottom of the article.

‘…He suggested that the former landfill at Maghtab should be covered will photovoltaic panels….’

Yes of course, let’s put panels on Maghtab’s north face, where the sun barely shines, and that’s till noon.

  22. Pier Pless says:

Well done. Keep up the good work.

  23. Adam's Rib says:

I only found the ‘previous page’ buttons. I scrolled down to the bottom of the page but did not find e-mail address. Could be something to do with the settings on my computer ?

    http://www.maltatoday.com.mt/news/budget_2015/47022/pullicino_reiterates_call_for_publication_of_energy_contracts#.VH3WsNLF9mM

‘..Insisting that a PN government would not bind itself to buy energy from ElectroGas, he said that purchasing energy from the interconnector would be cheaper and more flexible…’

And now for Konrad’s hissy fit, can’t have a sovereign state choose suppliers in an open market can we?

  26. xejn b' xejn says:

    thanks

  27. CiVi says:

Thank you Daphne. You are better than a nap, than a night out or an early night, than watching TV or browsing the internet. I’m totally addicted to your blogs.

What is the reason behind the VAT office attack?

Is it a form of coercion or threat?

[Daphne – I have just put up a post about this. Please read it and pass it on.]

    More news from Labour_Confused.com :-

    – the new power station will be up and running in June 2016 but still no contracts have been signed (source Konrad) – “a few months delay” points to this date which in reality points to a delivery sometime in 2018;

    – Labour inherited Enemalta with a billion in debt (source Konrat today) – in March 2013 it was no more than 550 or 600 million. Where did the 400 million go Konrad?

    – its a seven year plan (source Konrad) – where did he pull that one out of? Seven years for what? Why does he speak in riddles?

    – we should have private public solar panel renting of roofs bla bla bla so that we “only have to use the power station a third of the time, only on cloudy days” (source MI quoting LAB MP Deo Debattista) – that’s the new 300 million euro power station we need along with that LNG time bomb in the middle of the bay. Unbelievable levels of IQ here;

    – Communist China owns 33% of our national grid company and we are still in control (source Konrat) – like we control 66% of a company 100% mortgaged to a foreign bank owned by a communist dictatorship;

    – “The Nationalists left us with 1,700,000,000 in debt” (source PM Muscat on Reporter) – the national debt is three times that much today. Does Muscat, the super economist, even care to know what he is saying anymore?

    • Hufflepuff says:

Just a small point here, correct me if I m wrong but Joseph Muscat’s doctorate is in marketing not economics. It definitely makes a huge difference. Think bigger picture. Long term strategy. Motivation and planning.

[Daphne – It isn’t in marketing or economics. It’s in public policy.]

  32. verita says:

    thanks – it’s very helpful.

  33. Mila says:

    Thank you for the changes.

  34. H.P. Baxxter says:

  35. Drinu says:

Great, thanks for this, very helpful, but I notice the next and previous button are reversed. Web standards on all browsers have the left button taking you back and the right button forward. Maybe you would consider reversing them. I hope I am not sounding ungrateful, I appreciate the hard work you put in this blog. Keep it up and thank you very much.

Thank you very much Daphne for the great service you are rendering to this wretched island. With so many radio and TV stations, it is only this blog that furnishes us with real news and information. Please keep up the good work.

Keep up the good work … you are the best journalist and blogger around.

  43. Cikku says:

Keep up the good work. Grazzi ta’ kollox.

  44. Osservatore says:

Brilliant. I was really missing the “next” and “previous” buttons.

May I however suggest that these buttons be located under the header, thus keeping the same location on each and every page – I believe that is how it used to be. At the moment readers have to scroll down to the end of each article to move on to the next one.

When connected to the header (or placed as the top of the article), readers will simply be able to click on the same spot.

This is not so much about never being content or being lazy as much as it is about the ease with which readers are able to navigate the site.

  45. Montalbano says:

Keep up the good work. Well done.
