The ‘King of Lands’ is also the king of mirror selfies
The anonymous note I received about Clint Scerri, a 23-year-old ‘person of trust’ in the private secretariat of Michael Falzon, the parliamentary secretary responsible for the Lands Department, pointed me to the right Facebook profile with the words “FB, taking a selfie in front of a mirror”.
I thought that was a reference to his profile picture, until I went through all his photographs dating back to 2011 and realised that Scerri, who is known among his office colleagues as ‘Il-King tal-Lands’ (pronounced Il-Kink tal-Lents) is in fact also Il-Kink tas-Selfies.
Even when there is somebody around to take his picture, this man uses his smartphone to take a selfie in the mirror – always the same mirror with the same door showing up behind him.
I decided to be charitable – not that he deserves it – and leave out the ones taken before he had a smartphone, in which he is using a camera with a flash, with the flash reflecting in the mirror, because he was just 19/20 and looked even more of a total berk than he does now.
And this even though that was the age when he contracted marriage with a Russian adventuress who he had known for just a few months during which she lived in Moscow and he lived with his parents in Malta.
The Russian adventuress, Alina Scerri formerly Alina Bekina of Moscow, has contracted the same mirror-selfie disease.
The purpose of these photographs is to reveal just what sort of an immature, callow, irresponsible, shallow and unfit-for-purpose individual Michael Falzon has put in a ‘position of trust’ in his private secretariat, in charge of the Lands Department.
No wonder Marco Gaffarena found him so easy to ‘manage’.
