Huawei and Mrs Konrad Mizzi: What a set-up

I suppose it hasn’t occurred to many to ask why the Huawei circus was staged now in particular.

It’s because Sai Mizzi Liang is in Malta, bringing the children to visit their father and grandparents, for a couple of weeks.

That’s why she’s suddenly being seen: the US embassy reception, a press call at Chris Cardona’s office with some Shanghai delegation, yesterday’s press conference, and this morning she is supposed to testify in court in the police prosecution of a journalist brought at her request and that of her husband the Energy Minister (because that’s what they do in China).

That last is how I knew why and when she would be in Malta (I am the journalist in question).

That whole thing yesterday was literally staged to accommodate Sai Mizzi Liang during her short holiday in Malta, so that she wouldn’t have to bust a gut or waste one of her contractual free tickets flying to Malta specifically for the purpose.
