John Dalli’s henchman Iosif Galea, a former employee of the Lotteries & Gaming Authority (the precursor of the Malta Gaming Authority) is the key official for one of the two Maltese internet gaming companies seized by Italian police in a major crackdown on the ‘Ndrangheta, Reggio Calabria’s crime syndicate.

‘Key official’ is the term used by the Malta Gaming Authority for the main contact person for a licensed internet gaming company.

Iosif Galea is the sole director, legal representative and judicial representative of Betsolution4U Ltd. All the shares are held by other companies (about which more later).

Along with his very close associate Silvio Zammit, currently being prosecuted for corruption in the 60-million-euro ‘snus’ bribery case, Galea is disgraced former European Commissioner John Dalli’s ‘main man’.

Galea was also travelling illicitly with Gayle Kimberley, then a lawyer at the Gaming Authority, with whom he was embroiled in an extra-marital affair, when she was interviewed in Spain by the European Commission’s chief investigator, Giovanni Kessler.

When the scandal broke, Galea left the Gaming Authority but immediately the Labour Party was elected to the government, he was put on the public payroll at the Malta Environment and Planning Authority. He has since left that job and now says he is a “gaming consultant”.

Iosif Galea’s father, Frans Galea, is chief of staff to the Minister for the Family and Social Solidarity, Michael Farrugia. He is dating a former Super One show-host, Svetlana Muscat, who his father has put on the public payroll at Minister Farrugia’s private secretariat.
