“American University is my gift to the people of Bormla, which I have given to them symbolically on the third anniversary of Mintoff’s death”

The prime minister spoke by telephone on the Labour Party’s radio station this morning. “Bormla has stupendous potential,” he said. The American University of Malta is a gift that can make Bormla the best in the Mediterranean, a gift which we gave Bormla symbolically on the third anniversary of Dom Mintoff’s death. Above all, we showed how there is no difference between people.”

The prime minister also claimed – contrary to the facts – that in today’s newspapers there is “practically no reference to the American University of Malta”. This, he said, “means that there is no controversy whatsoever because even those who went out protesting know that this is the right and just solution.”

The Labour Party immediately issued a press release summarising these words.
