Ambulance paramedics found Hanratty lying dead on the floor near reception at Police HQ. Body did not leave in ambulance.

I have some new and disturbing information. Ambulance paramedics who arrived at Police HQ on Boxing Day, the night that Marlon Hanratty, a German citizen aged 36, died in a cell there, found his body lying on the floor in front of the reception desk.

This means that the only witnesses to his removal from the cell are police officers, and that we have nobody’s word for it but theirs that he was indeed found hanged in his cell.

A senior police officer who was present appeared not at all happy with the situation and was heard muttering about “evidence”.

By the time the doctor arrived from the Floriana Health Centre, paramedics had already attached an AED monitor to Hanratty. This is an automated external defibrillator, a portable machine which delivers electric shocks if necessary and aids with CPR. He was given 20 minutes of CPR to no avail, following which the doctor certified him dead at 11.20pm..

The senior police officer ordered the medical staff to leave the AED leads and patches attached to the body but to remove the monitor. He then ordered them to leave. The doctor returned to the Floriana Health Centre and the paramedics left in the ambulance.

When they left, Marlon Hanratty’s corpse was lying on the floor in the Police HQ reception area, with the AED leads and patches attached, still in the custody of nobody but the police.

If anybody has pictures of the three men who died in police custody, please send them in. Let’s give these men a face.
