GUEST POST/The Labour Party will need to be rebuilt around the people who stood up NOW for what is right

Cornered Mizzi and Cashcow Schembri: you’re already politically finished even if you haven’t understood it. Dead men walking. Shame on you. And don’t leave the country, because the police will wake up and have some questions for you at some point.
Joseph Muscat: just go. You can hang on to power, you might even limp along till the next general election, but you are mortally wounded. The longer you stay the worse you look, and the more you are diminished.
You had a tiny window of opportunity where you could have acted as shocked as the rest of the country, and properly investigated the allegations about your buddies, but that window has long since slammed shut. Your all-out defence of them makes your complicity clear. Just go.
Other Labour bigwigs: while the government remains in stunned silence you still have a brief chance to emerge on the right side of history. Your party is sustaining massive damage that could last a generation.
Muscat convinced much of the electorate that the Labour Party had learned the error of its previous ways. The electorate won’t make that mistake again for a long time. Your party will need to be rebuilt around the people who stood up NOW for what is right.
You must act immediately, or else you are complicit and part of the problem.
