New Maltese citizen Lalit Modi, who is wanted in his native country of India in connection with investigations into money-laundering, match-fixing, bribery and fraud, has been busy provoking India’s law enforcement authorities and the Indian media with Instagrams and tweets from Malta. Here are some of his Instagrams.

UPDATE/Modi had fled India with his family and set up home in London, where he was effectively trapped after the government of India withdrew his passport in 2010. He was left without travel documents until 2014, when with the help of controversial Labour MP Keith Vaz, who is of Indian origin, he managed to obtain temporary travel documents for two years until 2016 from the British government on the proviso that he used them to travel for his wife’s cancer treatment in Portugal.

Instead, he used them to travel to different places, including the Caribbean and Malta, which he visited first in August 2014.

When the Maltese government introduced its programme of selling Maltese citizenship with an EU Schengen zone passport, Lalit Modi applied through the services of Brian Tonna and Karl Cini of Nexia BT and Mossack Fonseca (Malta), the same people who set up companies in Panama for the Prime Minister’s chief of staff and Health & Energy Minister.
